Some of you might know I work as a massage therapist.

Recently I've been giving a tms quiz to clients with long-term pain histories.

I was taking one patients pain history, an early thirties male he had just had surgery on his neck having had a carbon cage put into replace a disc between c3-c4. He was a soldier and was on the sick list for 18months due to his back pain then post-surgery fears.

He said he had sciatica start at 21, but no pain ever before. Now other TMSers seemed to have something start as teenagers, but he had been fine. I asked if anything stressful had happened when he was 20-21 before the sciatica began? He answered he was awfully stressed those two years as he got married, realised he was gay, got divorced, and came out! I asked at the end of the physical treatment if he'd ever put two and two together with the emotional stress and physical pain history and he replied that until the session with me he had honestly never thought about it. He's accepted the link and I've started him working on his anxiety levels, fingers crossed he'll be OK!

Damn! Good job, Myles. It sounds like you could really do this guy a favor.
