Hi everyone,
After 6 months of being a "success story" my rsi pains came back on Friday, except only on my right arm. I did do a lot of heavy mousing on Friday night but I have done this plenty of times in the last 6 months and I haven't had a problem. The reasons I think this might be tms are:
1) I have been having a horrible time with my spouse lately with a lot of fighting and things (as well as talk of possible divorce which is very stressful naturally).
2) I have been trying to do a lot of painting and drawing lately and an artist blogger that I read recently had to stop blogging because of an rsi type of injury. I think this might have planted a seed in my brain to bring it back.
As for the pain only coming on one side, I know that it makes sense to have pain on the dominant arm (right in my case). My left arm and hand don't hurt at all. The pain in my right arm and hand is pretty much in the same places as before, although I can still function and do things. I went to work today and did just fine and I did a lot of cooking yesterday and did okay. I'm thinking that since it makes more "sense" to have pain on only one side, my brain has somehow gotten more saavy about what tms pains would seem more legitimate to me.
The problem I'm having is that I'm tempted to do all those stretches and things that I was doing ages ago even though the tms work is what eventually cured me. Has a similar situation ever happened to anyone out there, especially with rsi types of pains. Thanks so much!

Hi Carolyn,
Sorry to hear about the bad time you're having with your spouse.
I remember Beth had a relapse one time – I don't know if this will help – look for h2oskier25's post:

Hang in there!

I understand you are saying this to think about why the pains came back in your right arm, and that's certainly a legitimate thing to be thinking about, but I wonder if thinking that it somehow does 'make more sense' is not helping you much. It doesn't make sense to have RSI, period, and if it did, we would all have never gotten better using TMS work. Remember that! If you got better before with TMS, then that's what you have to work with.
I can relate to the feeling of just wanting to try the stretches and everything again. It hurts, you just want it to stop hurting! Totally natural. But try to remember how they didn't work last time. Fight the urge a bit.
I haven't had a relapse so it's hard for me to offer particular advice, but it sounds like you may benefit a lot just from taking some time to work through the emotional stuff that's going on for you (maybe there are even some emotions related to your art in there?) and when you do have pain, just give yourself a break, remember it is emotional in origin and you are going through a lot, and just keep on trucking.
