Baseball, I am so sorry that you removed your post earlier. I had just started to read it when I had to stop to do some work. I specifically came back here to start reading it again and now it's gone.

Your posts are ALWAYS so enlightening to me. I've been meaning to post that to you for a while now. I really think you contribute so much to this forum. I'm not clear on why you removed your post, but I'm sorry that you did. There have been many things you have said since I started on here about 3 months ago that I've internalized and that have helped me.

Please know that you are truly valuable to this community. Take care.

There... I put it back.
Because of technical problems with the forum and firefox, I always type my posts on word and I happened to have not deleted it when I closed it.

I am glad that people who read my posts find them useful... that's the only reason I still post. I just weary of the crosstalk. This is a TMS forum. The term was coined by Dr. John Sarno, so I would only assume that the people who come here A: have heard of his methods and are interested in recovering via there exploitation or B: Think he's full of it and come here to detract from his work.

When I first read HBP and recovered from my symptoms in 5 weeks back in '99 there was no forum and if you did a search on Sarno you would get 3 hits, all amazon.com links to his books.

Now, two more books and 9 years later with a lot of other doctors joining the crew, Dr. Sarno's idea's have taken hold and expanded. At work today I was listening to him discuss how inadquate his own theory was back when 'mind over back pain' came out, and yet he knew he was on the right track. Similarly, my understanding of what CAN be and usually is TMS has expanded. My intuitions get better refined. I have seen Bronchitis,Over eating and smoking serve the same purpose as back pain.....a swollen knee isn't even that far of a stretch.

Similarly, we too are pioneers of sorts. There are very few people we meet on a day to day basis who would be even willing to consider the TMS theory...they might vaguely appreciate that 'tension' causes pain in other people, but THEIR pain is real and they have just happened to be such unfortunates as to be outside the scope of the grace of someone like Sarno.

So, we are very much alone and very much of our fear, terror and exhilaration at success happens alone...the only ones who might benefit from any of the gift I've been given are people who might browse this forum. I have helped a lot of people in my circle of freinds, but they are a small number compared to the millions lined up in chiro offices all around the world right now.

I am 42 years old.I am in pretty damn good shape. I am the Leader of a Band, I can still hit a baseball 350 feet, and crank one up in the 70's. I did 210 pushups this morning, and am about to go stand with a guitar strung around me for 3 hours at rehearsal in all sorts of awkward positions. I moved all the furniture into my new apartment by myself, with no help (sofa's, beds and dressers included)

That is all due to the work of some 80 year old man in New York who I have never met. I have spent about 200 bucks on his books, mostly copies I've given away. I feel like I owe him at least my story and the truth since I couldn't have had the bitchin' childlike existence I get to live every day without his help and courage. He is like the Doctor I never had (though my current MD is a really cool modern guy who believes Sarno 100%)

I will now get off the pulpit...

can I get an AMEN ??

-peace

Hi Baseball, I was going to respond on your other thread, but figured I'd do it here.

First of all, I want to say how incredibly well it seems you are dealing with such intense stress. I'm sorry you are dealing with so much, but admire your hardwork in getting through it all.

Secondly, I wanted to let you know that because of a post of yours a while back I read Louise Hay's book and am now about 3/4 of the way done with The Power of Now. I had started Tolle's book over 2 years ago at the recommendation of my then therapist, but I wasn't ready for it. I never finished it. After reading your post about him blowing your mind, I decided to pick it up again. Wow. Absolutely amazing this time. He even says somewhere in the beginning that one might read it and it might not resonate with them at that point in their lives, but that at some other stage it could. That is completely me. I feel like I am reading it for the first time and find, like you, that he is blowing my mind.

I wanted to share with you the most incredible experience I had putting to practice something he suggests. It's the meditation (not sure if he calls it that) where you first focus on your breathing and visualize each breath filling your body with luminescence. Then he has you focus on body parts and visualize this light entering each part, followed by a wave of the luminescence going through the entire body.

I did this one afternoon while lying down. I was very stressed that day with various crap going on in my life. I did this visualization and found myself in a bizarre state that was like sensory overload. I heard sounds and felt tingling and vibrations throughout my body (but especially in my feet -- the source of my pain these days). Then in this state I started to cry, but found myself crying because I was experiencing the most pure, incredible joy I have ever felt in my 36 years of life. It was so unbelievable. There was nothing in this dream-like, meditative state except for myself. No other people, nothing. I wish I could put this into words better than I'm doing. I felt this pure, unadulterated joy in the midst of a terribly stressful day. It was so amazingly wonderful.

I took from it that true joy and peace are within myself. All these years of searching, and like Tolle says, it's within. Truly amazing. I don't know if I'll ever experience that again while doing a similar meditation, but it has had a profound impact on me.

Since that experience I have started to be more accepting of myself. You said something in your other thread that I identified with about how when you were in the best shape of your life years ago you got pain. My plantar faciitis and then months later "herniated disc" came about also in the prime physical condition of my life. The disc stuff is solved thank goodness thanks to Sarno. The PF is taking a long time however. But, if anyone could give themselves bi-lateral foot pain, I believe it's me based on all I've been learning from these forums and the wonderful books I've been reading.

Anyway, I wanted to share with you such an incredible and life changing experience I had. Like I said, it was because of you that I picked up both those books. The Louise Hay one really resonated with me as well and I've been working hard on affirmations (which I knew worked from trying them years ago, but wasn't willing to put forth the effort again until now).

Thanks again for all your inspiration. You are so eloquent in your words. Have you thought of writing a book? I'm serious when I say that. You are filled with such knowledge and the ability to put it into words that so obviously speaks to others.

Thanks Baseball! You have helped me more than you will ever know.
