I was wondering if anyone here has resolved or appreciably reduced their allergies by using TMS psychology?
I find I don't get the same results using it for allergies as I have for pain. In the two books I've read by Sarno, I haven't seen allergies discussed in detail, only mentioned as a possible manifestation.
Any ideas or suggestions?

Sorry about that. Didn't quite do what I intended.
Anyway, I've read others posts about seasonal allergies and allergy symptoms coming on when the pain was resolved. TMS moving into different areas.
This isn't the case with me. I've had problems all of my life with allergies. Some pollen, food, chemical. It isn't a recent manifestation.
I am very angry and frustrated when the symptoms appear due to the severity and inconvenience. But who wouldn't be? The symptoms alone are maddening. Then add the headaches and sore throats, etc.
I thought about which came first the anger or the allergies. It was the allergies. I actually had a very nice, pain-reduced weekend.
Could it be that some allergies are TMS and others are not???

Hi simplyfree
We recently discussed this under the post 'Hayfever as TMS Equivalent'
I too am trying to crack my hayfever allergy using TMS theory. A few people have said they no longer suffer such allergies as a result - so there is hope! |

If it is NOT stressed related than it might be due to overstressed body involving the immune system. IMO this goes for chemical sensitive people as well .
Many conditions have an underlying reason why the body cannot process things specially things that are NOT natural, which result in allergic reactions and or responses. Sometimes the body over reacts because it’s not capable of mounting a counter attack. When the body is out of whack, poisoned or compromised it is overburdened and does not function properly. This creates havoc on the entire immune system. Of course one of the reasons we get sick is when it cannot defend it self or is in the process of healing it self. If the body is healthy and knows how to defend it self we get better First you must learn what compromises the body which indirectly effects our health, rid the environmental factors triggers in the mean time work on healing the body.
IMO I would suggest to look at diet / detoxification, perhaps alternative means of treatments that are not mentioned in the mainstream medical community. As far as IM concerned they treat symptoms and never get to the bottom of why we are so sick in the first place

My "sinus-related" allergies (sinus /tension headaches, occasional migraines) seem to have cleared up, (I stopped taking all my many years of sinus meds 2 months after reading Sarno), but now some six months later I am really suffering from the "allergies" which make me fatigued and blah-feeling. This is a MUCH harder nut for me to crack compared to the headaches! I am often just too tired to do any of the Sarno work, which seemed to work so well with the headaches.
Anyway, I've read various threads in the archives about success w/ allergies, and am just starting to also use some of Claire Weeke's suggestions about "desensitization" which I consider an equivalent to "deconditioning." I'm still in the early stages, so not much progress to report yet. :o( I noticed that Dr. Schubiner's 2nd video talks about a person who had success w/ his allergies: http://www.yourpainisreal.com/index.php?MBS%2FTMS%20Lecture Quite interesting. Can't say that I've noticed ANY distinct mind-body correlation yet, but I think I had a fairly traumatic past and it's hard to tease things out. I've also been using Scott Brady's book, but the "40 days" plan was putting too much pressure on myself. |
