Faith or not, treating TMS takes work. Regardless of your beliefs, you are in control.
TMS is like any bad habit; if you want to break it, you have to work at it, you have to recondition yourself. |

Yep!! I agree it takes a lot of hard work to change many things about our current mindset and thinking. First we need to discover what is this hidden rage before we can eliminate its

Isn’t this a form of re-programming? BTW the good book does say, “ faith with out works is dead”
Always Hope For Recovery

Doing a bit of a brief read of this particular thread . I just thought I'd like to say related to 'goodism' I don't think sarno is really saying goodism is a bad thing or something we should stop doing... but that we need to observe that it has a deep effect upon our unconscious... and explore that although being good can make us feel happy and fulfilled on one level, unconsciously it [usually] contributes to our rage. But from what I understand, if we tried to bring these feelings from the unconscious into the conscious they will no longer cause any problems. we can then continue being as goodist as we like.
Re: the conflict between goodism(good Christian) & Sarno, Although I'm not religious[not trying to offend with my potential blasphemy]... I think there is a big distinction between the will of God and the will of the church. I think God would understand, if you are selfish when you need to be. although maybe the church would not :) So I guess I'm saying don't feel bad about being selfish when you need to because sometimes it is very essential to your well-being and I don't believe it to be sinfull. with practice, you can look into yourself and know when you are being good at the cost of yourself... sometimes not being able to say NO is a large aspect of our TMS rage.
