I read the book "Healing the Back Pain," but wasn't aware this was his older book. I do have the "Healing Back Pain/ The Mind Body Prescription" lecture DVD. Would the "Mind Body Prescription book still be beneficial?

I liked The Mindbody Prescription best, but people vary. Some say that HBP is better because it's simpler, but a lot of people with non-back symptoms prefer MBP because it has a wider focus, and others like it because it has more treatment suggestions. The newest one, The Divided Mind, is also valuable, though more complex than the older ones so not a great starter book. A lot of people really like the DVD because you can watch Sarno 'in person' and hear the stuff on audio, which is a better medium for some people than visual.
They're mostly around $12 or you can get them from the library, so it isn't like buying one and not loving it is a big deal. :)

in my humble opinion the mindbody prescription is the best book on the subject. it's mad comprehensive, the psychology section especially. i wouldn't have been able to make it as far as i have without a really solid understanding of the subconscious mechanics driving all my tms stuff. it took me forever to figure this crap out, jeez.
anyway, it's going to vary. someone with as huge of an inferiority complex as i had/have would probably need a bit more in-depth information than HBP has to offer. but someone with minor tms could probably recover just fine without MBP.

MBP should be required reading in medical school. It is the best book on the subject ever written. The Bible of TMS, in my opinion.
