As I've begun this TMS journey, I've been journalling a lot, and out of the blue popped this little poem, which I've found is an encouraging way of starting the day. I've actually found that thinking of the pain as just harmless paint on my skin really de-mystifies it's power.

There are monsters in the water
all around my bed
they'll soon disappear when convinced
they're all inside my head
just tell yourself it's paint not pain
so easily wiped off
and close your ears to others
that disbelieve and scoff
Get off your ass and you will find
those bones inside don't really grind
you've convinced yourself it's all bad news
open the door..put on your shoes!
Every day a little better
the monsters slink away
open up your curtains
it could be a beautiful day
This little poem each morning
and every night in bed
will remind those silly monsters
that they're just inside your head.
