Ok I had this muscle pain really bad a few months back. It was so bad I was in spasm and the shaking wouldn't stop. I went to massage therapy and then to PT and got back on the bandwagon with the mindbody. All the pain went away.
Now it's back, the shoulders and neck and back of skull are painfull and I am getting the shakes and burning sensations. I am also feeling weak in my lower back and my legs sort of feel rubbery.
I can read and read and rationalize and nothing is improving. The stress is here same as always and adding to all of this no doubt.
Here's the problem. While I was convinced it was mindbody, now that it is getting as bad as before, I am again starting to doubt it and worry that maybe I need more PT and that maybe PT really did help the pain. I feel so confused.
PITN: Rewatch the clip you posted. And then again.
As you've read on this board and in Dr. Sarno's books, the pain does move around in most people. It is very common. If it was structural, how would p/t or massage have helped? It's not going to "fix" anything. The body heals. Those are treatments that are placebos. If you do believe they are going to help, they will. Again, the power of the brain. But not permanently as the CAUSE has not been dealt with. During my episode, I refused to spend any more time or $ treating effects. I wanted to eliminate the cause.
Massage did help relieve my butt pain in 2006--for about 30 minutes afterward--the butt pain that was blamed on the herniated disc that was not anywhere near the location of the butt pain. None of it made sense to me.
