No rant, just a note of optimism, inclusion, and hope, whomever you like as a candidate.

(Go Obama)

For a second I actually had to check if I switched from my usual political forums to this one. No joke. No offense, but do you really think political threads "belong" on a board where people suffer from a rage/stress/anxiety syndrome? LOL

Thats almost like putting Britney Spears songs on a Music Appreciation forum....doesn't mesh.

I agree with LA Kevin. This is not the place. You're just going to bring the rightwingers like you-know-who out of the walls with counter rants and provocations and it will escalate into a big fiasco like other threads we've had. I say shut it down now. It's inappropriate.

I'll never understand why people get themselves into such a snit over something that can't possibly hurt them. I don't think I could have couched the thing in more temperate terms. If you don't like a topic, why not just skip it? It's not as if I've somehow tricked you into reading it.

I suspect Dave will delete it. And problem will be solved. In the meanwhile, I don't for one second regret the post.

Edit: Ok, maybe I do, just a little. But that's because I'm a bit of a wimp. On balance though, I care much more about the condition and fate of out country than I do about ruffling a few feathers. Again, why not just skip what doesn't appeal to you? Nobody's holding a gun to your head. I skip 90 percent of what's posted.

...You have to admit skiz, it's been a tad dull around here...I honestly meant no harm and felt confident that something so mildy worded couldn't possibly offend anyone....But the forum police are ever vigilant and I should have realized as much,,,

I do apologize to anyone who feels upset. Not my plan at all...

Art, I guess I would be considered a right wing conservative by many when it comes to politics and your post didn't upset me at all. Even though I will not be voting for Obama I like him as a person. I think he will make a great and very formidable candidate for the left. Cograts on the election!

Can't resist commenting on a political thread. I'm on the libertarian/republican end of things on many issues so probably wouldn't vote for Obama unless the republicans nominate a total nut case. But I am glad he won, he does strike me as genuinely decent, and certainly more attractive than Hillary and ambulance chaser Edwards.

Let's see how long TT can resist this thread.

Thanks guys....I'm a libertarian as well Weatherman, but electing a like-minded president I'm afraid is not in the cards for a very long time....

I think Barak's message of positive change, his inclusive and welcoming approach is just what the country is hungering for. We're been, in my opinion, in a kind of dark age, an era of fearmongering and constitition bashing that many American's, including me, feel ashamed of. We want to be redeeemed both in out own eyes, and in the eyes of the rest of the world. We want to go back to being Americans again, the kind of Americans that the French were talking about after 9/11 when they said, "We are all Americans."

I'm fully aware that not evryone feels that way and I celebrate their right to disagree...

I feel happy about Barak and wanted to share that a little. Beyond that,I have no agenda. Let the best man, or woman, win....

I despair - Hilary puts a little choke in her voice, feigns a little tear and you all rush out to vote for her.

Sigh.

Oh Scotty, God bless your polital acumen....Here's part of a letter I just wrote to Maureen Dowd...

Dear Ms. Dowd,

I never do this, write to columnists who don't know me from a hole in the wall, which actually is all of them, but I feel the need this morning. Your read of Hillary is so pitch perfect that it partially restored my sense of hope. Silly I know, to get so worked up about a column, but rarely have I felt so validated by something I've seen in print.

"Here, you see," I said to my partner. "Maureen gets it too. I'm not the only one to see the implicit narcissism in Hillary's weeping and in the untenable creepiness, the nearly unimaginable smallness, of her argument against hope."

EDit to forum: Oh well, I didn't mean to do this, but I'm so very depressed this a.m. We get precisely the leadership we deserve...

Art I don't have a dog in that fight but I have to admitt I was rooting for Obama. I don't like her either.

Ain't it great to be an American!

It reminds me a bit of the famous Howard Dean yell in 2004 that blew up his candidacy. Not that I would have voted for him - but he should have been taken out based on his ides, not some silly 20-second sound bite. And to this day, when the right-wingers want to discredit Howard Dean they just replay that sound bite, rather than contesting his ides.

Oh well, I guess in a democracy you get the government you deserve.

Congratulations to Hillary Clinton! I’m glad she won New Hampshire.
People really need more than obama’s speech of change. You have to actually have a plan of change and not just a pump me up lecture. I thought we would have learned something with Bush these last 8 years. I know a sales pitch when I here one. I haven’t heard Obama say one actual thing he plans to change. Just “we need change”, Ya we know that. who is this guy anyway? never seen him before, I dont think 6 years of senate is enough experience. Id rather stick with proven results from Clinton. Hopefully we can then get this country back to normal.
