Im wondering if anyone has had success with interstitial cystitis/overactive bladder. After 2 1/2 years it has become quite discouraging. I recently tried one of the medications to help with bladder spasms so I could at least get a good nights sleep (without getting up six times a night to go to the bathroom), but my symptoms actually got worse! I wonder if that's classic TMS. I did speak to Dr. Sarno on the phone and approximately 6 months ago who said that this is another TMS equivilant. I would really appreciate feedback on this from anyone who has had success with this. Thanks a lot!

My mom, who was diagnosed w/ IBS a few years ago and has been plagued with neck pain for years secondary to the phantom disorder known as "whiplash," was recently told by her internist that she had interstitial cystitis after a work up for more frequent urination and nocturia turned up negative. When I heard about the diagnosis (I was infuriated and) I told her that enough was enough already and I forced her to read the MBP. This was a couple of months ago and she feels a lot better now having recognized what has been going on her entire life (my dad still remains skeptical though). IC appears to be the newest of the TMS gremlins. If you have a history of other mindbody syndromes, then I would bet my money that this is just another. Good luck.

This is one of the many forms my roving TMS has taken over the years. It's definitely part of the treatment to just ignore it and plunge into an EVEN more real unravelling of feelings that may be hidden.

Thank you so much, Wavy Soul and mk. The past several years have been incredibly stressful year for me, so I suppose I really need to get deeper into the emotional stuff. This has certainly been a great distraction for me! At least when I had back and neck pain it didn't keep me up most of the night! I really appreciate your encouragement.

Yep, I had this manifestation. Using the TMS protocol, killed it back about 90% so far. It's classic TMS. Annoying, to say the least. It can be really scary too. If you're in that headspace, I feel for you.
My last remaining barrier is me still getting sort of scared of it, fear of letting go of control, etc.
My advice is go Sarno against this thing, all the way!

Thank you for your support! If you don't mind me asking, how long did you struggle with this for, and did you do any dietary changes as well?

Been there done that. Before I knew about TMS I was up six to seven times a night.
My family MD gave me several different drugs to try nothing worked. One gave me a bladder infection. I went to a specialist for a complete work up and every thing was found to be normal.
I only get up 1 or 2 time a night now and I contribute that to the large amount of fluids I drink.
Assuming you have been checked out for something serious, like a tumor, its TMS. |

More than 2 years. I used Sarno to recover completely. I determined that all that dietary stuff was just a bunch of conditioned responses (I'd expect to feel pain from certain foods/drinks and so it happened). I basically do anything I want to now, and I completely disregard any medical literature written on this disorder.
Pelvic pain is one of the worst medical waste-baskets I have ever come across. I'm actually very pissed off at what I had to go through in order to finally recover from it. My suggestion to you is forget everything you've ever learned or have been told about your disorder and start reading about Sarno.
