How am I supposed to know when I find a repressed emotion? I have had lots of stress in my life and I have spent the past 3 weeks going over each of my 42 years (well, as far back as I can remember!) but, although I've revisited a number of distressing periods, I don't feel I've found anything "new" and my pain has only improved slightly.

Am I supposed to feel strong emotions if I hit upon anything? Should I shout "yes!" if I get angry or cry?

This is starting to feel like a big stumbling block for me. :o(

Thanks for any help

"Feeling" repressed emotions is not the primary objective. The primary is acknowledging that pressures in the present and past are creating repressed rage for you. Listing pressures and negative situations is an aid to seeing how the reservoir of rage developed and seeing how it's possible for it to exist even though you may not have ever examined the possibility before.

Other important TMS work to do: connecting symptom occurrence to emotions, if there is a connection, retraining the brain to 'think psychological' whenever symptoms attract your attention, and getting the deep-down belief that your pain is coming from your brain. There are a few other suggestions in the books and many more on this board.

It may take a little while. Try not to put a timeline on it. That will only increase the pressure.

It's not 100% belief that's required, but 100% commitment.
