Hi,
I'm a patient of Dr. Sarno's - and a filmmaker. My family has a long
history with the doctor and I am very intersted in making a
documentary about him and his work that does him and his work justice.
This will be a portrait of Dr. Sanro as well as an in depth look at his practice. In order to accurately convey the context of his work it is important to us that we also follow a few patients through treatment. Dr. Sarno is very protective of his patients and their privacy. As such he isn't interested in talking to any of them about being filmed. However he is open to allowing filmming if we introduce the patients to him.
To that end I wanted to write to the forum to see if anyone knows of someone who intends to work with Dr. Sarno and might be open to being filmmed. Again it is important to us
that we follow a number of patients and track their progress in real time so that we can fully illustrate the power of his work.

Michael, I don't know that the patients on this forum are the best fit for your documentary. Most of the participants here have already accepted Dr. Sarno's theory and have already experienced the success of his techniques. Whatever pain/complaints that linger here may not be amenable to simple visitation with him. You might be better off looking for many of the unfortunate back pain sufferers that have NOT yet been exposed to TMS. The successful treatment results in those patients will be far more remarkable. Perhaps visit a "herniated disk forum," or something along those lines. Granted, the people on this forum are probably more open to the diagnosis...

Thanks for the responses. I understand that the people here will already be familiar with the treatment and Dr. Sarno. However, I also understand that once one is familiar with the situation they are also prone to noticing it in others and nudging them in the direction of the proper care and treatment.
Having said that I thought that people on the forum might know of others that are considering looking into TMS treatment.
I reached out to my local parents listserve- and got many responses from those who had read the book and been helped- two or three of whom I had suggested the book to.

Hi,
I am new to this TMS. I have suffered back pain and sometimes shoulder pain for the last 3 years. I found Dr. Sarno's first book totally by accident while looking for another book one day and was interested in it because I have been trying everything to heal myself. It made a lot of sense and I have also just finished his second book and am now reading the Divided Mind. I would like to make an appointment with Dr. Sarno or attend a seminar but I wasn't sure if he was still practicing. Is he still practicing? |

he is still practicing. You need to be in NY, NJ, or CT to be seen by him.

He only treats people who are close by because he feels that they need to be able to come to follow up events such as small group meetings.

Its a good thing to capture the good doctor's wit and sober wisdom for the record as it could be quite a while before our society finally _WAKES UP_ to the facts and gets its collective head out of the sand.

Well, most have found it best to be nudge-less or nudge-free as the horse seldom drinks and usually kicks you in the teeth.
Lastly, I'm curious to know how your film will differenciate itself from the John Stossel 20/20 segment, which briefly followed 3 patients. Also, please consider including some detail on how/why/to-what-end the medical/industrial complex is reluctant to sign on. Is it really just for the love of money?

I agree that capturing Dr. Sarno's very strong personality is an important part of making this film. I thought that John Stossel's piece was well done. However, it was from a more "journalist" viewpoint- led by a journalist- than our film will be. In addition we plan to make a much longer and more comprehensive piece.
