I have been diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia. It is like getting an electric shock every time that I chew, brush my teeth, etc.

There is a case study in the Divided Mind about someone who had it, took medications, had surgery, etc., no improvement, was finally seen by a TMS doctor, diagnosed as TMS and the pain went away.

Has anyone had any experience with this pain?

Allan.

I have dental problems right now as well...but not "shock" like sensations.
Can you be more specific?

Trigeminal Neuralgia can definitely be a TMS equivalent. Many people with it have responded to Mind Body therapy. The medical community has a hard time explaining neuralgias like this one. The physical explanations haven't made sense to me. Radial Neuropathy with no visible impingement of nerves or irritation caused by virus like a Herpes Zoraster are always suspect to me.

T.N. seems like a TMS equvalent, and I heard it hurts like a mother.

The pain is not present when my mouth is not active.

When I chew, etc., there is a sharp, severe, intense, excrusiating pain. Imagine the worst pain that you ever had and triple it. It is worse than sciatica.

It only lasts a few seconds, but any movement of my mouth, even talking, will trigger it.

Now that I realize that it is TMS, over 50% of it is gone. Thank you Dr. Sarno, once more.

Allan.
