After reading many posts here and reading Sarno's books, I'm just wondering how to completely eliminate the inner voice that says, maybe my shoulder, upper arm and base of my neck hurt so much because it's a tumor or something else. My physician just looked at me when I explained Sarno's approach to such pain and just prescribed physical therapy, advil and muscle relaxers (the usual non sarno method) and said an MRI in 3 weeks if physical therapy doesn't help. I don't plan on doing any of those things, but do some patients just get the MRI first to rule out an actual disease? I'm sure I don't have to tell anyone here about how much something can hurt, but wow, I'm shocked by so much pain when there wasn't much of a trigger (some light weights a day before is all I can think of) so it seems so much like a psychological event. Any advice? Hilary |

sounds like, smells like, tastes like, tms....
But, Sarno does state getting thouroughly checked out conventionally first. I guess you gotta go thru the wringer first unfortunately. OR.....start the Sarno treatment and see if it goes away. You have to wait for an MRI and do the physical therapy first since insurance won't cover it unless you do those things first.
In the meantime keep posting and reading Sarno so your'e set to go once the MRI comes back. My 2 cents. |

I have intense shoulder and neck pain, too. My physical therapist wants me to go for an MRI because she feels I may have a torn ligament on my neck and that would rule it out. I'll be going just to get peace of mind and get on with Sarno's treatment.
