Hi all! I havent been posting much because life has been good. Anyway, I am a professional guitarist and guitar teacher. I have had over the years various bouts with pain in my hands, especially left pinky area. They have gone away through basically ignoring and playing through the problem. This month, however, I've developed a very painful left hand / pinky / top of hand. I've mostly kept playing so far, but the other day it was quite difficult to get through a practice session. So of course I find myself worrying, and getting into the obsessive "Is it TMS again -- or could it be a real injury?" dichotomy. Based on my history, Occam's Razor would say "Of course it's TMS!" but the (for me) unprecedented level of pain has caught me offguard. This time of year we do a lot of shows, plus there's yardwork, and I've been playing more acoustic. So of course the physical model starts asserting itself. And I do more computer work in running my music school than I used to before I was the owner. I'm kind of wimping out on my TMS approach right now, despite having gotten over 20 + other symptoms in the past. Any advice?

Hi Sarah,
Here are four questions I have for you. I would love to read your responces. Try to go below your surface feelings and get to the root of what you may be feeling on the inside:
How much pressure do you place on yourself to improve your performance?
How sensitive are you to criticism?
If I were to listen to your work and then said it was awful, how would you react on the inside?
How much do you crave attention and praise, and what happens when you don't get it?
