I too seem to be in a major relapse after being quite a Sarno success story.

The main bugaboo is intense fatigue. I had "chronic fatigue syndrome" for about 30 years - quite debilitating. It got better when I started realizing I needed to stop using bod to process things, and then much better when I read Sarno about a year ago now.

Some hard stuff has happened recently, and I'm assuming that's it. But it is SO hard to relate that stuff, which I feel as though I'm aware of and FEELING, with these quite overwhelming symptoms.

I am so out of it that I am almost unable to do stuff even with caffeine.

Help.

I’m sorry to hear that.

I won’t try and give advice because I don’t have anything useful you don’t know already.

I'd just like to offer offer my sympathy.

I have a question, though. What happened with your tooth pain? (I seem to remember it was getting better.) Any relationship to the recurrence of chronic fatigue?

Remember that the rage reservoir can fill back up with time. If you are not careful, the old pains can creep back into your life. I always recommend time for “maintenance” even when you are feeling good. This way, you continually face those subconscious issues before they get hold of something inside and stick…

Chronic fatigue is definitely an emotional state as well as a physical one. Just be confident in what you have to do and work to re-establish the same strategies that have worked for you in the past. My best to you, Sensei

Hey Wavy,

Funny thing in that I was just checking out your website...You're clearly a very talented person with much to offer the world....In fact, I was on the verge of sending you an e-mail..For one thing, to ask if you are familiar with The Sun magazine...Seems right up your alley somehow. Personal writing, emphasis on the self-revealing and the spiritual, a few Buddhist writers.

I'm sorry you're feeling poorly...I'm not sure one can necessarily make a connection with the severity of symptoms and the degree of psychic stress that might be their basis..Does the subconscious have a sense of proportionality? I'm guessing not...IN Freudian terms the id, which is the engine of this whole thing, is an unreasoning, ravening beast.

If your symptoms are the same as you used to feel, I'd simply take a deep breath and do the work all over again...If not, I might take the extra precaution of getting some blood work...

Wishing you the best...

Good thoughts,
A.

Hi WS,

Is your recent yoga trip a big factor in this or are there other new factors that have occurred recently? If so can you discuss those issues?

Regards,

Well, since I wrote this I had a kind of breakthrough and feel much better already.

When I was in "it" it was kind of like a universe of illness that seemed to stretch out in front of me forever. Then I kind of realized that it wasn't real and suddenly had more energy. Actually there was a bit more to it than this - I was using some techniques I often use, except that they hadn't been working. I have been journalling and having extra therapy sessions and maybe I caught up with my own rage reservoir.

I was going to tell what was going on, as it was obviously and intensely rage-inducing, but now I don't think I will resuscitate it unless I sink back into major symptoms again.

The thing that really gets me is that from inside, these created realities seem to extend infinitely in all directions. When they "pop" they can be gone so quickly that it's as if a new life has begun again. Somehow I spent several decades in my chronically ill creation, but now it seems to be more like several days, then poof!

I'm so grateful for everyone responding and for what you all said.

I do believe that belief and faith have a lot to do with all this, and I do have quite a strong belief in this method.

Oh yes, and re my teeth - TOTALLY, completely cured. It's quite incredible.

This I attribute to the exercise of teaching two weeklong seminars with a lot of TMS information in them while I had my intense jaw pain. I was so in the flow of not believing in symptoms that in the second seminar, I went in with pain, came out with none.

And, yes - ha ha - dem symptoms migrated to new areas as some new stressors appeared.

This is fun, I think. Isn't it? Couldn't we just think of it as playing a game called "corner the symptoms?"

Hey Wave,

Wonderful that you're feeling better so quickly...Pretty good call on The Sun, eh? I just had a feeling...Once in a while I'm lucky enough to see an essay of mine appear there...

In my small northwestern WA town we had a wonderful yoga teacher who often would read exerpts from Sun Magazine at the begining of class. They were always inspiring and dthought provoking. I want to send out a mental prayer and good thoughts to her. She is on a Peace walk across the U.S. She has touched my life in a wonderful way and I am glad to have had her as a teacher. Namaste!

Perhaps a subscription is appropriate now.

Hi Kristin,

I think The Sun is a remarkable magazine...They break all the rules and yet continue to thrive. I look forward to every single issue.

Wave- Glad to hear you are feeling better. Ah- the mysteries of the unconscious. The good doctor talks about the rage/sooth ratio in the unconscious that can be alterated by conscious though. Visualization or guided imagery can also help.

In visualization i've been able to trigger panic attacks and release the rage, which i've talked about a lot here, but also I can, if I want, bring down the panic attacks by providing positive affirmations to my inner child such as: i'm here and everything is going to be alright or you are going to make it. The self comfort from the adult to the child can reduce the panic attack, albeit not as quickly as letting out the rage.

I've recently found this quite helpful as i've been having some painful issues with my folks right now which showed up as insomnia for a few days until I was about to calm the abandonment fears of my inner child through the above visualization and affirmations.

It's simply amazing what the mind can do.
