I have experienced pain in my left hip, butt and lower back areas for several months now when standing or walking. Lately when I get up in the morning my right hip will really pain me for awhile and will then switch back to the left hip and then the right side will be pain free. Both sides do not ache at the same time. Has anyone else experienced this kind of switching? The right side episodes usually seem to occur the morning after I have done a lot of reading in the Sarno books so that may be influencing it.
One other question for anyone who might wish to address it - I have noticed while reading the Sarno books that he will mention the "Unconscious mind" and then seem to mention the "Brain" within the same context. Can these terms be used interchangeably? This is of interest to me because I need to know which element I am addressing. Thanks.
I think you should treat the moving pain as confirmation that it is TMS. Everyone is different; it is unlikely that you will find someone with the exact same symptoms.
For me, I had a variety of different types of pains, from my hip, lower back (both sides), middle back. The pain would move around at random. I started thinking that maybe the specific type of pain was related to specific types of emotions. Maybe there is some truth to that, who knows. But there is really no benefit in thinking that way. It is detrimental to think at all about where and how bad the pain is, because that means you're focusing on the physical.
Now if I feel pain I just laugh to myself and say, OK that must be because <<blank>> where I fill in the blank based on what has been going in my life recently. I go over a list of things that might be feeding my pool of rage. Pretty soon I'm so busy thinking of things that I forget about the pain, and it's gone.
