Hi, all!
This past Saturday, in the early hours of the morning, I got up to use the bathroom and ran smack into my bathtub! I fell to the floor, holding my foot and trying to get through the pain. My husband flipped on the light and ran to get ice and when I lifted my head up to look at my toe (I was wondering why it was swelling so quickly because I could feel it on top of the toe next to it) I was shocked to see my right middle toe going to the right, sideways, hitting the toe next to it. I then proceeded to pass out and was taken by my husband to the emergency room where it was explained to me that the reason you pass out is because the pain is so intense and the shock at seeing your deformed toe freaks you out so bad you lose all the blood in your head (vagus nerve). Wow! I had x-rays taken and was given shots of Lidocaine and Marcaine and then my toe was put back into it's proper place. They put a splint on and wrapped it up and told me to go home and keep it elevated for two days. The weird thing is, since I've been so focused on my aching toe, I haven't had a bit of my TMS induced dizziness. Someone asked me today "How's your dizziness?" I proceeded to tell them about Dr. Sarno's books and what I've been doing, and guess what? Now I'm feeling slightly dizzy again. It is truly amazing what the mind can do. Give it a little distraction like a broken toe and you have the perfect substitute. I know we all know this happens, but just thought I'd add another example of it for you all to read.
