Hi,
I was wondering if anybody had advice about insurance plans, specifically mental health benefits. The psychiatrist Dr. Sarno's office recommended charges $185 per session, and my current insurance has a lifetime cap of $1000.
Also, to people who have been seeing a therapist, how often do you visit him/her? And how long did you continue therapy? I realize this will vary a lot, and need not apply to my situation...
I'm just trying to get an idea of whether I should worry myself sick about trying to find better insurance. To make things worse, I'm a foreign student in the US, and the all the rules seem doubly complicated and restrictive

Wondering about the lack of replies...did I breach some kind of etiquette...or just that nobody has any input on my question?
thanks, ndb |

Insurance coverage just varies a lot between plans. I don't think most insurance covers a lot of therapy. I have a good insurance, and I get 8 visits annually. I see my therapist once a week. |

Thanks for the reply, Pendoreille. Wow, so you foot most of the bill on your own!
By the way, can I ask what insurance company it is? I'm asking because most companies seem to have a 'lifetime cap' instaed of allowing some amount per year.
Thanks, ndb |

It's through my work, and those sort of plans are all negotiated very differently. And I just looked again it's actually 20 visits per year. |
