So sorry to be reaching out again, my problem comes from reading The divided mind,it convince me that the fibro is tms until I came to page 325, you see I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis ( x rays ) many years ago, and was told it may have set up the stage for fibro. The pain that never and I mean never lets up is in my upper back where the injury occured and dr Sarno states that osteoarthritis can be structural only, which makes me think I will never get rid of this pain, sorry for sounding so pessimistic but I am a little low on faith right now, people have knee and hip replacements but one cannot get a spine replacement now can they, all this to say that I am falling off the tms wagon as a cure for my ills, and quite unhappy about it may I add, thoughts anyone?????

I may be wrong, and sorry if I am, but it seems like you, or more appropriatley your brain, are trying to find evidence that would convince you that you do not have TMS or an equivalent. You will be almost 100% convinced, then on page 325 you say aha!!!! "I don't have TMS but have a structural problem."

What you read were the words of Dr. Douglas Hoffman. I invite you to re-read his words on page 325 as I personally come to an altogether conclusion than you do.

Well Peter, thank's for the feedback, you may be on to something , everything is so tight in my upper back now , I am getting chest pain, problably my old friend reflux, anyhow , when I read your feedback I was in the process of convincing myself that I am getting a heart attack as I have trouble getting in a deep breath ,I am adding more symtoms since last night, I AM A MESS!! I am now trying to relax and make sense of this new turn of events, will go back to page 325 as you suggested , this tms monster is getting me angry, as it is outsmarting me so easily , well he can't do it to me forever, I am catching on, slowly but surely.....lol

Hi Miche,
From what I've read, people w/already existing conditions like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and post-traumatic injuries are more likely to be diagnosed with fibro. To me, this confirms that it is TMS even more. We need the "real" condition to convince us. Kind of like having a herniated disc will create chronic spasms in a TMSer.
