Hey P: I don't know why you can't e-mail me. I'll have to ask someone who knows about computers. How are you feeling today? Neck better? Ringing better? I hope so!
I have had tinnitus forever. Using Sarno I realised that I ignore it and it goes away. It is paying attention to it that makes it a problem. I also put away all my massaers and stretching routines and ignored my tight leg pain. It also has gone away. Self treating it was a focus thus hurtfull. relatively pain free after three years and every remedy I could find. IGNORE IGNORE IGNORE. Either sooth the pain with your mind or let it hurt for a while
Thanks for writing. How did you learn to ignore it????

Becca - it took about 3 weeks to get "rid" of the tinnitus after having it for about 3 years after attending a fireworks display. It still comes back if I think about it - like right now (of course). When it comes back, I just laugh it off and tell myself that there is no structural problem, and I turn the music up louder on my car radio or TV to tell myself that I am not going to take this silly BS and I can't hurt myself with loud sounds...As to the nature of those 3 weeks of "treatment", I had ups and downs but it was progressively up...I have to admit that the TRT therapist metioned some structural factors in my case - life long exposure to loud noises (concerts/nightclubs) - but said that it didn't matter - I could still get rid of the tinnitus by behavioral changes. I was surprised that she mentioned the physical because the web site says nothing about structural factors. So I chose to discount this portion of what the audiologist said and to believe in the tinnitus web site (that's the problem is all psychological/perceptual) and Sarno. It did help going to the TRT therapist to get practical advise as to environmental changes (noise conditioning - including sleeping with a noise machine on - which I no longer need to do)...I do have a moderate hearing loss in the affected ear, but not deafness.
I have had tinnitus forI guess 30 years. I could either stop and say "oh **** my ears are rinning again " for the 3000th time or ignore it. I guess it was my early body talking back with tension. I also had a very charming eye twitch which switched eyes as I pulled into the parking lot on day ONE of a new job. It was not until finding Sarno and getting so f-----ing sick of my legs hurting that all this came into focus. Having been on Prozac since it was a puppy I went off thinking it may be the problem. With a new shrink he put me on Cymbalta and one week later my tight legs relaxed. Placebo no idea but they are still relaxed. I then after reading Sarno stuff over and over I decided to ignore my legs. I took the massager out of my car chair office bed hand held etc. I stopped stretching .All this acctivity was focusing my mind on the pain as I tried to relieve it. This has worked. When I do hurt I simply sit and have my mind relax my body. Deep breathing also helps. I then get up and if it still hurts thats too bad and I ignore it. It works and almost all of the time I am fine. Now and then it flares up and I do the same routine. I recently told my shrink "I had a flare up of this or that" His response was to avoid flare ups you would have to be in a coma Good Luck
