I have successfully overcome TMS pain in the past. I am in the middle of another bout with my knee. I am sure I will overcome it again. My question is how do you deal with a skin condition such as excema. I have had it forever to varying degrees. Currently, it is in a terrible state. It's not like knee pain that you can ignore when you go out for a run. What can I do? It is really hard to ignore the itch!
I have this condition as well for most of my life. I find flaxseed oil to be benificial in the liquid form taken and mixed into yogurt. I have it on my thumbs and bottom of feet. I find this also obviously another way the mind tries to release some tention or anxiety.
I have a topical cream that I use, but isn't that giving in? Isn't that like going to the chiropractor or having knee surgery? Shouldn't I be able to do something like "ignore the pain"? I am doing the other TMS work to get rid of my knee pain......... ?
I used to have eczema - not all my life, just started about 5 years ago.
It seemed to be caused by certain foods... but the foods which caused it kept changing. eg I would get rid of it by stopping eating nuts, but then 6 months or a year later it would appear again. I then stopped dairy products (which I'd been eating without any problem up till then!) and it went away again.
Then I found out about TMS and was able to stop it altogether - I gradually re-introduced the foods and if symptoms appeared I told them to go away. (I am now eating those foods which appeared to be causing it and not having any problems.)
I don't feel that it's "giving up" to use a topical prescription to help clear up and reduce the itching of the skin problem. Sarno says to take pain medication for back pain if it's severe enough - while trying the anti-TMS stuff concurrently. He also suggests taking meds for stomach problems at the same time as trying anti-TMS methods ...I'll have to admit that I haven't tried Sarno's methods on my skin problem....Maybe I will now that the last poster mentioned success with this...I don't remember seeing a specific success story for skin problems on the board before (or in any of Sarno's books - although he does say that skin problems may be TMS equivalents).
HilaryN.... thanks for sharing your success story! I find reading about other people's success with the same exact problem I have very helpful. Any others out there who have overcome skin problems through their TMS work?????? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
