You cannot debate with a guy about a book unless he reads it first. BTW, always wanting to be right is a TMS type personality. |

Look inside yourself and figure out why it is so important to convince others.
Then drop the issue. Some people cannot and will not ever accept Dr. Sarno's work. |

Hi Jena,
I'm glad you expressed you frustration on the situation. I agree that you have nothing to "prove" to this person, so just let it go and move on.
Take care, -Stryder |

This may not be helpful, but I found it interesting:Eckhart Tolle says in one of his books that the need to be right in an argument, and make the other person wrong, is the ego's fear of death. The egoic mind really thinks it will die if it cannot be right. Sounds odd, but it can explain why the argument is important to both of you. |

1 - "All truth passes through three stages: First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident." -- Schopenhauer
2 - your so called friend is a very close minded individual.
THERE IS NO WAY? he must live in lala land. Does he think that we know everything there is to know?

your absolutly right..and since people havent had a twinge of backpain come back that right there to me prooves that Sarno's right. if the pain never went away in almost every patient of sarnos then id question it but this man is curing to many people for him to be wrong. |

I believe that most tms people find others' lack of belief intolerable because it serves to reinforce our own (conscious or unconscious) doubts. I think that it is an evolutionary consequence to associate pain with physical, and that although I certainly believe in Sarno's theory, it is simply counterintuitive. That is why so many have to struggle to accept it.
So, much like how people dislike other people who seem to embody qualities that they hate in themselves, I think we find "outsiders'" lack of faith bothersome because it might resonate with the doubts that we ourselves have. |

yeah i mean i wanted him to believe in sarno because by him not believing it made me upset because if he did it would of just reenforced the positive... but he also did not read any of his books so how can you make that kind of judgement on something that you know nothing about. |
