I noticed that a lot of people have written about ankle pain. I am having trouble diagnosing my right ankle pain as TMS and I could use the advice of experienced people. I don't remember injuring it and it has been stiff and sore on and off for about a year mostly in the morning. Lately the sore feeling has been more constant. I get tingles now on the sides of my foot and sometimes the outside if my leg above the ankle feels cold. It gets more sore after long walks but I never see swelling. I thought maybe it was bothered by a new excercise or the way I sit. I haven't been to the doctor because it's never bothered me enough, until now. A few of my pains have improved with my new knowledge of TMS and so it seems to fit that the ankle would try to sneak up on me as a distraction from emotions. I just started journaling, so thins should help. How do I really know it's TMS? Special One

I'm not sure if this info will help but it might give some support/insight. In August I had two epidural steroid injections (one week apart) between L4 & L5 on the left side of my back. I won't go into the problems with that but the interesting thing is that immediately following that trauma, I developed pain in the lower leg and ankle which I had never had before. It has not gone away. It moves around all over my foot but is there everyday in some form or other. I have no doubt in my mind that this is TMS but I have not gotten rid of it yet. I have ordered Dr. Sarno's videos and hope I can better deal with all of this very soon. I know the pain is real but by the way it developed, it fits the TMS profile perfectly. So, it sounds like your ankle problem could be the same thing. Good luck on kicking it out of your life!
