Just so ya'll know I spoke to Sarno today and he does know about this forum i thought that was interesting! i told him about it and he said he already knows! Also i am proud to say that i have made an appointment to go see him and will be following his program and on the road to recovery and i think the biggest problem with my case was after reading the books and watching the dvd i really need the DIAGNOSIS ..its very crucial for my personal recovery...

| I never went to any TMS doctor, and some on this forum did not either. They went through a series of tests and concluded that they had TMS after reading Dr. Sarno's books. I hope seeing the good doctor will give you the confidence you need to embrace the treatment program and bring about a full recovery. If I were a betting person I would bet that Dr. Sarno is going to look at your test results in about 15 seconds, poke around a bit on your body and then inform you that you have TMS. He has done this thousands of times so he knows how to detect it very easily. |

| I know that you can heal without going to see a tms doctor and im sure i will be diagnosed in about 15 seconds if not sooner...but i do need the diagnossis and to speak to him in person because i have many questions about my personal symptoms to ask him... im only 15 minutes away from him so why not? |

Absolutely - Jena. I'd have done exactly the same as you if I had lived so near Dr Sarno's office.
Although I managed to recover without seeing anyone - there wasn't anyone to see anywhere that I could possibly visit, I still feel that had I been able to see a qualified TMS practitioner, my recovery would have been faster. I'll never know for sure, of course.
You know what? I think I'd still pay for a consultation with Dr Sarno, just to say thank you to him in person.

Jena or anyone who has seen Sarno,
Does insurance cover the visit as it would the Dr I have been seeing? I'm sure it depends on the provider, but I would be interested in your experience.

| Dr. Sarno does not belong to any insurance plan. You will have to submit the expense as an out-of-network doctor. Coverage will depend on your plan. He will give you two separate bills with appropriate diagnosis codes for reimbursement. If you have a good plan you might even get back 80%. |

| Thank for the responses! i have been feeling a lot better these last days..maybe because i know i am going to see sarno on tuesday. when i spoke to sarno he said that some people get re imbursed up to 80% like dave mentions so we will see... |

PS: My wife's chronic shoulder/upper back /neck pain went away overnight, after she read the part about rage.

| I've read Mindbody connection and tried and tried but I just can't shake this (tendonitis in arms). Worst bit is, I live in Australia and as far as I can find there are no TMS doctors. No diagnosis, no cure. |

| it went very well actually, im also seeing him again tomorrow for a 2 hour lecture which should be interesting i have been 95% better theselast 2 weeks it came back lastnight but im alright now but iknow i am not completely cured yet because i am still somewhat afraid to do certain things but now that i was diagnosed i know that it just takes time and will go away as it will for people on this board who have it... about selling the dvd i would but i need it to watch myself but i am sure you can order one on his website healingbackpain.com i think the site is ...and kalor dont give up! you need to believe 100% u have tms and the symptoms will start to fade but it wont happen overnight (well for most people it wont) hang in there dont give up! |

Hi kalor,
It is not a requirement to see a TMS doc to get a TMS DX.
Have you read HBP or MBP? If not start there.
If your reqular doc has examined you and you come up with a good bill of health (other than pain), then that rules out a structural cause or a serious condition.
You can then re-read HBP and/or MBP and see how you fit the symptoms and the personality profile.
If it all makes sense then you likley have TMS and can start on your recovery.
In many cases, people here on the forum have self-diagnosed TMS without seeing a TMS doc. A few need a little more push and seeing a TMS doc helps them make the connection.
So take charge of you own treatment to get started, you have nothing to loose.
