I've had atopic dermatitis (excema) for 3 years now and I'm wondering if anyone has had any positive experience by treating it as a TMS symptom. I'd appreciate any information or experiences that you can share with me regarding this rash condition.
Thank you, Shmuel |

Shmuel, I was diagnosed with Rosacea 4 years ago - my face was very very red and rashy with pimples all over. I searched high and low for topicals and then discovered that diet really helped - avoiding all sugars and grains. I took massive amounts of vitamin c and other expensive vitamins and minerals. It improved, but as soon as I came off the diet, the rash and burning began again. Finally - only a few months ago, I realized that this had to be TMS. I treated it like all my other symptoms like pain - IGNORE IGNORE IGNORE. Have a good laugh at it and stop taking all the supplements and just eat what I want. I have totally clear skin today. It is unbelievalbe. I have no burning, no rash and I have spent the last week eating chocolates, cookies and whatever I want. (I'm just a bit fatter! - that's all) So - there you have it. TMS can take any form. |

Thanks. This is amazing to hear. This condition started as a small spot on my face and has spread all over. I couldn't imagine this condition actualy disapearing. You've given me what to be optimistic about.

Shmuel, It's so amazing - I can't believe it myself. What freedom! I learn more and more about how the brain uses the body - in so many ways. There are so many equivalents. It comes down to whatever will take your attention away from what is going on in your life. The best approach is to take baby steps. Reduce the cream to once a day if you use any. Do you do anything right now to deal with the condition?

Suz,
On a regular basis, I apply cream twice daily. On occasion, when it gets out of control, my doctor will prescribe steroids. You're recommending to minimize creams. I have a question about that. The mind can control new spots from getting iritated and infected, but what about the spots that are already affected? A spot of skin that already is iritated and at times infected, I would think that now treatment (creams and etc...) is necessary to heal the infection? Can the mind heal that too?

All,
Dr. Sarno explains that the subconscious mind creates real pain by slitely reducing the oxygen flow to the pain location. If excema is a TMS symptom, can somebody please explain how the subconscious actualy causes the flaired skin and the infections in the skin of one that has excema. I think that an understanding of the process is what I need to be able to beleive it. If anyone can explain this I would be most appreciative.
Thank you, Shmuel |

Yes - good point. I think the key is to ease in. - just apply to the affected areas. What was effective for me - was ignoring it. I used to stare at my skin throughout the day and obsess over it. This fed into it working well as a distraction. I just started to relax and forget about it. In other words, I began to overcome the fear. It is fear that keeps one obssessed over it. - I just started to think - "who cares - I have other things to think about" |

Suz,
Gled to hear you success story. Every story is an inspiration. Did you have any affected skin that healed without putting any creams on it - just from ignoring it? |
