I have recovered 98% from TMS. The 2% that is left is an annoyance. My brother is the one I am concerned about. Here's the symtoms. He had surgery on his left hand 10 years ago from a basketball injury. He HATED being in the cast (a form of clausterphobia). Since then his hand has weakness and has atrophy'd so that now it looks like a skeloton next to his right. He is being told by the doctors that they can not determine what is causing it (they have done nerve conduction, MRI's etc) and have him half scared about all of the ugly scenerios (MS, Lupus, Lou Gherigs, etc). He now is experiencing pain in both arms and other joints. as soon as the doctors started talking about about how bad his hand was he spiraled downward. I am convinced that all of these other symtoms are TMS but I can not understand why his hand muscles would wasted away like they have over the past 10 years without pain. For years he did not experience pain in the hand...it was simply weaker. I wonder if TMS can cause muscle atrpophy?

It is clear TMS is in full rage now as he told me yesterday he is obsessed with this thing and is scared to death his is going to be crippled...stressed out...pain starting in his right arm/hand now, siatic out of the blue...you get the picture.

The disconnect is when Sarno says the TMS is harmless. That TMS is not a physical problem...That TMS is jsut lack of blood flow enough to cause pain...for years he did not have pain, his hand just got smaller. Thoughts?

The pain he now has in other areas sounds like TMS, due to all the anxiety over the original injured hand. But the wasting away of the actual hand doesn't sound like TMS. Sounds like all his other pain symptoms can be though.
