The above link will take you to an article which was in The Cleveland Plain Dealer on 8/3/04. The Cleveland Clinic is going to create an institute to investigate the relationship between the heart and the brain. Thought it might be of interest to the readers of this forum.

It is very interesting for me to note that the Cleveland Clinic is to now investigate the connection between the heart and the brain. I personally know of a man who just recently visited the Cleveland Clinic for painful sciatica, who had previously been diagnosed with herniated discs as the cause for the pain, with recommendation for surgery. I had continually advised him notto have surgery, in spite of the pain, based on Dr. Sarno's theories. Since he was aware of Sarno's theories before his visit to the Cleveland Clinic (I had loaned him my Sarno video for viewing), he asked the Doctor at the Cleveland Clinic about Dr. Sarno; they told him that they never heard of him. But, fortunately for him, they advised against surgery for him and are to recommend some kind of physical therapy. Any suggestions for my dear friend?

You've already done all you can; you gave him the video. If he believes TMS applies to him, he will forego the physical therapy. Or maybe he needs a round of unsuccessful physical therapy before he is ready to accept the TMS diagnosis. Either way, the rest is up to him.

Thanks Dave for your concise and most appropriate reply to my question for helping a friend in need. Remember that famous quotation (which many times seems to apply to one introducing and recommending Sarno's theories to others), "You can lead a horse to water, BUT .....................".

Also, thanks Dave for your many contributions to this TMS Help Forum.
