I have found Dr. Sarno's Healing Back Pain CD's very helpful.I like to listen to them at night when I am going to bed.It seems like it not only relaxes me but also reinforces his messages in my head when I am falling asleep.Has anyone found any other CD's that have been helpfull in the meditation process.I had extreme back pain for over 20 years until I read Dr. Sarno's books and applied his methods.I have been pain free for 6 years and want to continue pain free.I am running my first marathon (Chicago)in 8 weeks and 6 years ago I could not lift myself off the floor at least once a week.If anyone knows of any new books or CD's that will help please write back. Thanks

Good luck on your first marathon!I listen to Dr. Schecter's cd, The Mindbody Audio Program, and Candace Pert's Psychosomatic Wellness cd.
Pert's cd is half music, and half a guided meditation. Both are at Amazon.com

I lied! I looked back at my bills, and I ordered Candace Pert's cd,
called "Psychosomatic Wellness", from www.soundstrue.com . They have a lot of interesting titles, I just checked and it is still listed.
I really like the music part, and as a lame beginner meditator, 1/2 hour of guided meditation is plenty for me.Guy- on Sunday i tried a
supplement for aerobic excercise some friends reccomended- L Arginine
I normally only take a one a day vitamin, some flax seed, eat well, etc. I had planned a 4 hour run, with hills, intervals, you name it.
i hate hills. I was passing runners and cyclists, and was not tired.
I had a negative split, 2 hours out 1:45 back, with the wind at my back. I still thought, this may be a placebo effect. But, the last two days, I felt like I missed my run on Sunday, my legs feel fresh.
That can't be a placebo.I feel like I am cheating, but I am telling everyone that runs, to relieve my guilt. I purchased mine at GNC, but it is widely available, and is also supposed to be good for your heart. Search yourself-under arginine and nitric oxide.Al

Thanks, Al. I found it and I'm going to see if I can get it at Barnes and Noble. I love Candace Pert.

Laura- you are welcome - I love Candace Pert, also, I have Molecules of Emotion, and Your Body is Your Subconscious Mind. She is so easy to listen to, and is not a snobby person, for a genius.

Hey Al,

Have you seen the movie What the Bleep Do We Know? If you are a fan of Candace Pert I'm sure you have. If not, definitely check it out. I mentioned on this forum a few months ago when I first saw it. What a mind blowing film. It's all about the mind body connection and how our thoughts influce physiological responses in the body. Very interesting stuff.

Laura- I haven't seen "what the bleep do we know", but I will rent it this weekend. I just have to get my kids to show me how to use the dvd player. Thanks!
Guy- I talked to a bike racer that I work with that used arginine for 5 months, and had great results, no side effects, also a
weghtlifter that also mountain bikes, that told me you can try taking much less than what it says on the label ie:just before your training runs. On www.drmirkin.com , there is a study that shows that
arginine removes fatty plaques from arteries. I couldn't find any negative comments on the product, other than it has not been studied in longer than 6 month trials.
