Dave, it appears your formerly suffering TMS Met Jose Reyes will soon be replaced by another TMS athlete: Mark Prior. Here's a guy that's a totally well conditioned athlete in his early 20s, who takes months to heal from a sore Achilles' tendon, comes back and pitches a few games and now his elbow is sore. I can certainly imagine the kind of pressure on him to get well from the media, fans, etc., so it's not surprising that he keeps getting these "injuries".

Yeah, that Game 6 last year really did it to him. I can only imagine what must be going through his head. Not only did he "fail" to deliver the goods last year, but this year he comes back as the ace with high hopes yet again.

He is young, so you never know, maybe this is a legitimate injury. Personally I don't see how any pitcher can throw a curveball repeatedly and not get elbow pain. The difference is probably that some (non-TMS-prone) pitchers just ignore the pain and chalk it up as part of the game. Others run for MRIs at the first twinge.

I don't necessarily agree with Gary that evolution did not prepare us for sitting in chairs. But I'm pretty sure it didn't prepare us for thowing a baseball 90+ mph, not to mention the unnatural arm motion required to put the right spin on the ball.
