I was taking a shower and got soap in my eyes,it burned until I washed it out.I then was brushing my teeth and was not able to hold the water in my mouth, much the same as when you get novacane(sp?) at the dentist. My tongue felt like I burned it,only able to do a 1/2 smile.Got to the Doctor asap was diagnosed with a mild form of Bell's Palsy, blood tests, lyme test ,antiviral meds, lucky no shingles. What do you guys think? T.M.S. or what? Paul.

Paul,
Don't know if it is TMS or not but on a listserve I am on, the moderator had Bell's Palsy and swears that Doxycycline (antibiotic) taken right away can clear it up quickly.

Sarno does mention Bell's Palsy in his books. How scary that must have been for you. Keep us posted.

Hi pault,

Don't know if this is TMS or not. I did the same thing a couple days ago and it took me a while to get the soap clear, my eye was red for a couple days. Reminds me of the first time I had a migraine so bad I lost my vision for 15 minutes, pretty unexpected, and scary.

I do know that your eye is connected via a duct to your nose, which is why your nose runs when you cry. Then a post nasal drip will put that in your throat near the back of your tongue.

What kind of shampoo _was_ this anyway? Just curious.

By the way, I wonder if TMSers are more prone to shingles than non-TMSers?

Take care, -Stryder

about shingles, it really is just the chicken pox virus rearing its ugly head again after years of hiding out...so I do not see how it can have any relationship to tms.

Thank You all for the information. Now it is about 48 hrs. that I have been on the antibiotics (Valtrex) also an antifungal,no shingles (fingers crossed) so it should be taking effect soon. The Doctor thinks is is due to a virus as I am very tired.Working Thur/Fri were very tough!I am greatful I don't have the droopy, dry eye,and do not have to wear a patch.I am applying the tms approach in any case ,so it will be hard to tell if the results are tms or not.I consider myself a walking tms'er in any case. Will keep you all posted. Paul.

Nobody knows for sure. But I believe the immune system is a major target of TMS. Who is to say that TMS does not manipulate the immune system, that has been successfully fending off this dormant virus for years, so that it suddenly is unable to fight the virus, thus bringing on shingles or other illnesses?

It's just a hypothesis, but it is consistent with TMS concepts.
