Many people have posted that when symptoms arise, they yell at their brain to make them go away. How exactly does one do this? Do you yell out loud? What are you focussing your anger on exactly when you say 'your brain'?

Dr. Sarno mentions in his books that people literally yell at their brian, much like you would yell at someone you are mad at. How do you feel when you are in a lot of pain? What would you say to a person who caused you physical pain? Would you not be angry at them and yell at them for what they have done? Well, you need to literally do the same thing with your brian and affirm with your words that you know what is going on and that you are in charge and you demand of the brain that it cease and desist from causing pain.
In the words of the title of one book I recently read "Your body believes every word you say."

You tell your brain to stop trying to destract you from your emotions, that you know what it's trying to do, that you are on to it and that it's not going to work, et al.
If you yell or at least verbalize this outwardly, you are making the point very clear and you are also convincing yourself outloud of what you believe.
