When I feel the pain in my hip I say to myself : "IT'S ONLY TMS (muscle) HOLDING."

I like it - it is like a memory (a bad memory). Dr. Hanscom in Seattle says pain pathways have a memory. |

Hi Al, thanks for the reply! I was given a powerful NOCEBO by a TMS doc years ago that my hip was NOT TMS and to get a "hip-replacement sooner than later"--I didn't comply with his advice. On the way over to his office, I had a brisk walk with little to no pain once I got warmed up and was looking forward to him giving me the all-clear and go on my merry way to run marathons if I wanted to. A requirement to "recover" from a TMS symptom is a total belief that it is TMS and not structural--that powerful NOCEBO has lingered for years creating a tug-of-war as to is my hip TMS or is it structural. The pain comes in goes. I've found with this new mantra : "It's only TMS muscle holding" it interrupts the message from the brain and is helping to relax the muscles in the hip area.
Other then that, it's been lights out down here in fire country, no fires near by but some smoke and very high winds the other night, 75mph+ and saw white caps on the slough for the first time. There's been no power going on three days to prevent fires. Been using my car battery jumper box to power the cell, lap-top and VZW Mifi box to connect to "civilization". Most everything's closed except for the Nugget Market nearby thankfully. Don't need lights to play tennis, but it would be nice to take a warm shower soon.
Cheers, tt
