Dear Tom,
As you might know, I was invited to give a TEDx talk at the University of Manchester in May this year. I felt very privileged to be invited and determined to do my best, especially as this is the first TEDx talk in our field.
The first stage was to try and ensure the content was right, yet make sure that it was presented in a style that TED recommend. The TED mentors were very helpful with their guidance and I want to thank Suzi Cairns who, with her experience as a writer and her understanding of this concept, also helped me with some of the content.
The event ended up being during a very challenging family time, but with some of my family and friends supporting me on the day, I got through it. After a long wait for TED to check the talk and the references of the studies I mention, it was finally approved last week.
