I’ve been diagnosed with an enlarged prostate at age 49.
My symptoms increased over the past few months: frequent urges to pee, some dribbling. So I went to doctor. Had prostate exam and he found small amount of blood in urine, so more tests, all fine: very low PSA, no kidney stones, even had the awful cystoscopy exam—urethra and bladder look good.

The problem- he put me on Flomax for 2 weeks daily. Symptoms improved but it started making me very drowsy. So he said to stop it. He prescribed another drug to help with bladder urges but said it’ll cause dry mouth and constipation, so I haven’t taken it.

I’m trying Saw Palmetto Instead.

Have prostate issues and TMS been discussed or do I just need to medically deal with this?

Thanks Tom, and no, my problem seems to be improving, not entirely resolved, but I already mentioned in my first post that I was taking the medication for two weeks *daily*. I just wanted to know if others considered prostate a TMS equivalent or just something to be dealt with as we men age. I stopped taking the meds. Taking Saw Palmetto instead.

Good! Looks like he has resolved his problems. For anyone else who has similar issues, do a search at this site for key words such as FLOMAX, prostrate, urinary urgency, UE, and you will find a plethora of information on the issue and interdictions with TMS.

There's an especially good article in there somewhere about prostrate issues and the mindbody connection--(TMS). I gave the article to my brother who had prostrate issues and was being painfully royally hosed by a uro doc, giving him unnecessary painful(ly) expensive procedures, the whole nine yards--my bro read the article, switched uro docs to one who was less invasive, and his prostrate, (likely TMS), issues were resolved--Onto other symptom imperatives!

BTW, I'm a tennis player and not a white-coat, so if your gonads fall off from any advice you got from me or over the internet, don't blame me--it's only a fuzzy little yellow ball.
