Posted - 05/19/2005 : 11:43:46 Hi, everyone,
Last night I watched a movie called What the Bleep Do We Know, starring Marlee Matlin. Wow!!!! What a movie!! You all have to check it out. The brief synopsis on the back reads "Embark on a life changing journey with Amanda (Marlee Matlin), a divorced photographer who tumbles down a metaphysical raabbit hole. Her mind-bending voyage through the worlds of science and spirituality includes revelations by quantum physics experts, playful animation and even a conversation with a wise 35,000 year old being. Ultimately, Amanda's perception of reality is turned inside out and the meaning of life becomes clear. See for yourself why this groudbreaking movie becamse one of the most compelling and talked about films of the year."
It's a pretty heavy movie, content-wise, but the main reason my naturopathic doc wanted me to watch it is because it talks about how our thoughts affect physical reactions within our bodies. I can't explain it, but you all just have to watch this movie and let me know what you think! It is mind blowing.

Posted - 05/25/2005 : 11:44:34 I found the movie at Hollywood Video last night and although I haven't been able to see the whole thing, I watched the first hour. Amazing! My son thought I was watching the Discovery Channel! I can't wait to see the rest of it! |

Posted - 05/20/2005 : 17:57:06 Most, if not all of us, have read Healing Back Pain. How many remember the story of Krebiozen on page 121? The patient had blind faith in it and it cured him and when the AMA said it was no good, he died. What an example of the mind controlling the body.
Perhaps we are all on the threshold of wonderful knowledge as to how the mind works. Just recently, there was an article on how positive emotions between two people (um, yes that too) creates oxycontin (whatever that stuff is that people steal from pharmacies) and a good feeling in each of the persons. Further, some scientists suggest that we exchange electrons when we are with others. Deepak Chopa (sp?) suggests that we are basically all energy (atoms?). Maybe exchanging electrons isn't all that farfetched. What else are we exchanging? Who knows?
Someday maybe someone will be diagnosed with TMS and there will be a prescription pill for it. It appears that we are all pioneers in this area like the early days of x-rays when there were human guinea pigs testing the right exposure. I think this forum is not only unique but essential in developing ideas on how to proceed with TMS.

Posted - 05/20/2005 : 09:07:21 Take a look in the Documentary section. This is how netflix has it listed... I just received it and will watch it soon!
The actual title is: What the #$*! Do We Know!? (but it's commonly called: What the Bleep Do We Know!?)

I don't know but I would guess somewhere in the science fiction section maybe. My doc got it at Walmart and says he tried to get more but they never got more in. You can go on the website, something like What the Bleep.com or something and they probably sell it there. It blew me away!

Posted - 05/19/2005 : 16:38:52 Hi Laura,
I have seen the movie too and thought it was great. I love that kind of stuff anyway but the bit about the water was just amazing. It is worth watching for just that part.
Also, I am sure you know this, but in case you don't, you can get it on DVD. This way you can review it anytime you want and it would be great for discussion groups.
Hope you're doing well

I forgot to mention this one part of this movie that I found truly amazing. This gentleman named Imoto (don't know if I spelled it correctly or if that's his first or last name) did this study with water molecules. He took water and looked at the molecular structure under a microscope. Then, he photographed the same water molecules after, for example, the water was blessed by a buddhist monk. The water took on a completely different shape, looking very similar to a snowflake. They showed water molecules and what they looked like after someone said "I hate you. I want to kill you." The molecules were scrambled all over the place and did not take on the beautiful snowflake appearance. Anyway, this one guy says "It makes you wonder, if thoughts can do that to water, imagine what our thoughts can do to us." They go on to explain that our body is made up of 90% water. It is interesting, to say the least. Yes, I'll admit, a little bit out there, but very thought provoking indeed. I mean, I just have a thought about feeling dizzy and two seconds later, I am. This is very much along the lines of Louise Hay's work. Louise Hay believes, for example, that if you are fat you should change your thinking to thoughts such as "I have a slender body." In this movie, they show Marlee Matlin looking in the mirror feeling disgusted with herself and her body. They show her body literally getting larger as she looks in the mirror.
I don't know about everyone else, but I for one am going to really make an effort to change my thought processes in an attempt to change how I feel. What do I have to lose, right?
