Posted - 12/02/2014 : 10:58:46 Hi there, I sprained an ankle 2 months ago while wrestling. I did a voodoo magic with yolk and urine (after injury), some arnica gel + another gel to increase blood flow, alphabet exercise, heavy deadlift, calf work bla bla. There is no pain at all but I cant squat because there is something that stops me like a bone or something in the top of the foot. Day after injury I went to a doc to take a x-ray and everything was fine. He told me to buy this gel and everything will be ok. But it still hurts. I cant wrestle to this moment. I feel it unstable. I can run but... There was a swelling 1 month post injury but there isnt. I feel a tension when stretching. http://i.imgur.com/nnfEXx0.jpg I did this: http://articles.elitefts.com/training-articles/rehabilitation/seven-exercises-for-rehabbing-your-ankle-sprain I know the body heals itself but Im not sure is it normal an ankle sprain to stay this continuously.
Thanks a lot |

Posted - 03/27/2017 : 10:08:08 I recommend turmeric for sprained ankle because of its anti-inflammatory property. It has little effect on the skin and tissues, but helps the patients getting rid of pains and improves the recovery. In 2007, researchers published a report on the American Journal of Physiology to confirm the efficiency of turmeric in the treatment of ankle sprains and even plantar fasciitis. You need to: Mix turmeric powder with a glass of warm water. You can add lime juice to increase the benefits. Apply the mixture on the swollen or aching parts Leave it for 10 hours. Following this every day to enhance the treatment of sprained ankle. https://authorityremedies.com/home-remedies-for-sprained-ankle/ |

Posted - 03/16/2015 : 22:09:49 Hi - I run most of the time with no shoes - I have noticed that is has strengthened my ankles and helped my arches become normal. I know Tom has mentioned he has played tennis without shoes. Worth a try. |

My tooth hypohondria was followed by TMJ (jaw pain). |

Yes, real blood and guts injuries can morph into TMS triggers. TMS is the volume control for the pain. When I had my first severe ankle sprain it took me a year before it fully healed to the point where I couldn't remember which side it was on. But, it didn't become a TMS distractor for me, didn't need it to be at the time.
If it's TMS you need to be exploring your emotional issues; what's bugging you???

Posted - 03/15/2015 : 08:32:50 Hello mates, It's been half of a year since Ive sprained my ankle.I can run/squat/jump/blabla but the day after I feel my ankle immobile (Im not sure for the word and sorry for my english), with reduced range of motion or something like that. The feeling is the same as months before. Could TMS replace real injury? A week after my injury I could run but this feeling is driving me #%!%% crazy for 6 months.
Sorry for flooding at all. Thank you! |

Posted - 01/10/2015 : 10:12:43 Hi again, Look at my situation.Yesterday I did weighted lunges in the gym,I ran 15mins on the treadmill. But in the evening I felt a sharp pain while putting on a sock (LOL). Before I found TMS I had a tendinitis (TMS) of the wrist and the feeling was similar. Can it be TMS? Or Im not patient? |

Posted - 12/02/2014 : 20:32:14 The first time I sprained my ankle it took a year before I couldn't remember which side it was on. That's my acid test for healing of a true sports or other injury is when I can't remember which side it occurred on--time heals all wounds--it may take a couple of hundred years though if they are TMS/Psychosomatic. You need to give a real injury enough time to heal.
Putting a gel or urine and egg yolk on your ankle aren't going to make stretched ligaments and tendons heal faster. There's less blood flow going to them so they take longer to heal then torn muscle tissue. A broken ankle actually heals stronger then a sprained one because bones, ligaments and tendons stretch. I've had many sprained ankles from tennis and long distance running and they all healed. My issue is my hip, I wish I could run fast enough to sprain an ankle, I'm envious of those who can. I don't have to worry about stepping on a tennis ball, I just harmlessly bump into them.
You need to give it time, you can use it judiciously but only you know what you're feeling. The first and worst time I sprained mine was in a tennis tournament, I did everything wrong back then. This was decades before R.I.C.E. was "invented"--(rest, ice, compression, & elevation). I won my match with the sprained ankle and had to play another match within an hour--so I went down to the hot-tub and soaked it in 104' water for half an hour. Then I played my next match and won it. By the net day my ankle was swollen up and black and blue like the Goodyear Blimp from ecomosis. I limped it to my first visit to an orthopedist the next day and he wrapped it with a Koban, Ace type of bandage for compression and support and told me to stay off it for a month. So, I stopped running and playing tennis for two weeks and slowly started playing again.
Thomas Muster, the famous Austrian clay-courter, got squished between cars, while taking his bag out of the trunk of his car by a drunk, injuring him badly but he was back hitting tennis balls sitting on a wooden crate. Garbine Mugaruza the Venezuelan phenom, who has beaten Serena Williams, did the same.
Whether it's a trauma injury like a sprained ankle or TMS/psychosomatic--or both, Dr. Sarno would say to use it or lose it-- like Nike says, Just Do It! Of course you have to use your discretion and feel your way along. Now I would have iced my ankle first and then put heat on it later--but it's gonna' heal in it's own good time, the body is it's own best healer, tissue is tissue.
BTW, that urine/egg-yolk voodoo concoction, is that home-made or can you get it at Whole Foods down the sugar-pill aisle or GNC? Along those same lines, would a golden shower be helpful?
P.S.
Those Koban type of Ace bandages are really helpful for support and compression, much better then the neoprene sleeves IMHO. You can play in them, reuseing them a few times before tossing. That's what the ortho used on me for my first ankle sprain. If you're going to have to play injured, like pro-athletes must, learn how to wrap your ankle with trainer's tape to immobilize it. You can buy it at any pharmacy, should be near the Ace Bandages and have a PT show you how to apply it or watch how on Youtube. There's two parts to it, the foam under tape to keep it from sticking to the skin and then the adhesive bandage applied in layers around the ankle.
