Posted - 04/16/2005 : 11:39:27 Well, here's the latest and greatest TMS issue. ( I have gotten over plantar fascitis with John Sarno's help.) It was about a month after my boyfriend and I broke up that I started having 2 new symptoms: Vaginitis and dry eye. The vaginitis has seemed to go away finally, but I am still struggling with my eyes being painful and dry. I wake up in the morning and it feels like my eyes are sitting in dry sockets. I have been challenged with contact wearing as well. I just contracted this symptom, suddenly! In the past, I would have dry eyes about 2 days every 3rd year due to winter conditions, but this has been going on 3 months. (And no winter here in Minnesota anymore...yeah!) My optometrist has wanted to put "plugs" in my eyes or give me special prescription drops. I don't want this because I think it is NOT dealing with the cause of my eye issue, but only the symptom. I truly believe that this is TMS and I that didn't contract one of the typical "muscle pain problems" because I know that I have overcome those issues in the past. Has anyone had these kind of symptoms before? Any feedback for me? Any TMS doctor suggestions? I really appreciate your support!
Thanks so much!
Jennifer

Posted - 04/18/2005 : 15:58:06 Thanks for your input Holly! Hopefully I can take care of this thing mentally, though. The reason I think it is TMS is because it happened so suddenly. I have worn contact for 12-16 hours per day for several years. The only time I would really get it is once every third winter for a couple of days due to dry conditions or after taking anti anxiety medication. Also,my past history is I either have something I am concerned about with my body or I have major anxiety. And anxiety is was for the previous 9 months before this happened.
I am praying!
Thanks again for your support,
Jennifer

well I have a different outlook on this dry eye thing. I develpoed dry eyes when I was a young kid! I do not for a minute think it is TMS(sorry). My eyes actually do not produce enough tears and this common condition does get worse as you age. I believe it is an actual condition which thanks to "plugs", Bion Tears( for exterme dry eyes)and Lacralube ointment at nightime seem to have done the trick. It got to the point that I actually couldn't open my eyes in the morning without ripping some of my eyeball! Ouch!! get some help for yourself. This is an easy one!

Posted - 04/17/2005 : 15:51:09 Hi, About 6 months ago I developed this really bad problem with my eyes bothering me so I went to an optometrist for an eye exam. He prescribed a new set of specs, I was completely uncomfortable in them, nothing was in focus, everything way out of whack. I got a second opinion and he said no, your eye prescription has not changed, you have dry eye. He gave me Restasis drops. It sort of resolved on its own. He said it may be my work office air being dry, etc. Now that I know about TMS I am convinced that the dry eye was TMS Related. CONVINCED completely. Hope that helps. |

Thanks so much for your reply. I have Heal your Body by Louise Haye and she says that I have angry eyes and that I would rather die than forgive. I was like Whoa! After thinking about it, another failed relationship has probably created some of these angry feelings that I didn't notice. So, I have been consciously thinking about forgiving my past boyfriend and myself. I am actually going to go see a counselor for further help. Well, I am still trying! It is getting better. The hardest thing is being strong all the time, since you use your eyes 24/7.
Take care,
Jennifer

Hi Jennifer.
Sarno wrote in Healing back pain about the patient whose symptoms included dry mouth from the salivary ducts being constricted. It would seem that almost any of the non voluntary functions of the body could be affected.
I started having dry burning sinuses the other night and Immediately suspected mindbody....Louise Hay's book says sinuses usually means irritation at a person close to you...I thought and thought and by bedtime they had gone back to normal(no nose spray necessary)
If you're certain it's emotional/TMS than just ignore it and think psychological
BTW...she says dry eyes represent being unforgiving about something, being spiteful....
I know it sounds weird, but her cause list is eerily accurate. She's like Sarno(believes it's all emotional/unconscious) but has no medical model...just anecdotal evidence from her patients. It's a good thing you had it checked....it might not be a bad idea to get the drops if it becomes unbearable...remember,even Sarno prescribes Meds to his patients for acute attacks...you don't have to be a Martyr...just keep thinking psychological and you'll always win in the end!!
