I know, I know. I promise you, I 100% understand and believe in TMS. I have healed for 2 years with literally zero pain. There is not a question in my mind as to why I personally get pain in my life. I know exactly what the issues are in my life at the moment that the pain is trying to distract me from. I know what it is that I am angry and raging about. The problem is that a couple of them are not so easily remedied. One of them being a life decision that I made that was the wrong one, from which there is not going back from. I have to learn to accept it and not be so internally angry about it. Or simply be externally angry about it. Haven't quite figured that out yet.

So that said, my mid-right back is in spasm right now. Some of you may know how horrible back spasm is. There isn't much worse. I am trying to work through my issues in the best way I can. I absolutely understand that coming to a place where you don't even think about the stupid pain is how it goes away....but can I just ice the goddamn spot for some relief? If I know what I know about TMS and have had great success with healing before, can I not give myself some temporary relief? Knowing that I am not doing it to "cure" me of anything? That would be swell...

stevep ... more confirmation for Mom2two's post:

One poster put it this way (Fredarm57 from WAY back in 2005):
quote:

"Sometimes all you can do is ride out a pain episode. I saw Dr. Sarno in the early 1990's. During one of his lectures, someone asked him what to do when you had a severe pain attack. He replied, with a twinkle in his eye, "go to bed with a good book and a bottle of wine".

Hope you're feeling better soon!

Thanks Mom (is that you mom?). Definitely what I needed to hear right now. I promise I'll be careful not to make it a habit!!

Yes! I remember dr Sarno saying, when a massive pain strikes, there may not be anything you can do at that moment so take a pain reliever and go lay down. Not permanently but for some relief. Ice it and rest yourself, body and mind. I was there for the last 2 weeks after almost 2 years pain free. Sometimes it happens and it takes a while to work its way out. But if ice feels good. Do it!
