Anyone out there familiar with Abraham Hicks and the Law Of Attraction?
I love how it corresponds to Sarno's message. The Law Of Attraction says the more you focus on a subject the more you will experience of it.
Sarno's talks about the "Pain Pleasure Ratio" which I believe is basically the same principle. Once you have determined there is TMS it just becomes a choice of what I will focus on. The Pleasure or Pain of my life.I can consciously create the outcome of better health through my focused thoughts.

Again that is the whole premise of the Law Of Attraction, to use the contrasting situations that show up to lead us back to what we really want. Abrahamm says it repeatedly, just flip it around. If your sick of being sick then you want health. If your sick of feeling poor then you want to feel prosperous, if your sick of unsupportive and abusive relationships then you want to experience it's opposite. I don't believe it is a mystery.Once we stop giving our attention to what is not wanted, those childhood dreams and desires will be revealed again along with the opportunity to focus on them thereby eventually attracting them in 3D.
I think we can use TMS as barometer of how we feel emotionally and start to ask for the opposite of those unwanted feelings and as Sarno suggest just ignore the pain and see it for what it really is.

Many people know what they don't want but are not at all clear on what they do want. I suppose this is because we have buried our "likes" deep in the unconscious mind due to early training from family and culture. Weren't we all told to "stop dreaming and grow up."?

Someone once said if you wonder what to do after retirement think about what you loved to do when you were five. It's a bit sad to realize that from 6 to 65+ we try to forget our own vision and pretend we are who others thought we should be.

All this focus on becoming who we are not means, according to the Law of Attraction, that we will attract what we don't want. TMS "helps" by distracting us from our unconscious feelings about what we have lost.

Later on, when we are sick and tired of the pain, we may say no to TMS and start exploring who we really are.

We can use the TMS as the "contrast" as Abraham describes to help us get clear on what we do want. From that point start to reach for better feeling thoughts, as Sarno mentions when he talks about the "Pleasure Pain Ration". I believe the same thinking that healed my back and other physical dilemmas can help me also create the life I want, and it's working !

Interesting, donnroc. In my experience, the Law of Attraction is very real but a bit more complex than sometimes presented. In the end, we manifest what we really want but that isn't necessarily what we think we want. From that perspective, we need our tms pain until we don't need it any longer.

Hope that makes some sense

I am familiar with their work, I never put the 2 together,
but I think you are right. When you are in pain, that's all
you can think about, and what does it bring? More pain, of
course.
