Posted - 01/08/2014 : 10:46:05 Hey guys and gals,
A friend of mine suggested Monte H's work. I listened to some stuff and it made sense when he said " feel the emotions". My therapist had said this to me many times but I only attributed it to therapy sessions and not every day life.
As a result I allowed myself to experience painful, embarrassing, happy thoughts whenever they came to me. I did such a good job at repressing my emotions to go away at these thoughts that it went to my body.
It's amazing how when i think of an embarrassing time that my mind will try and veer off and justify everything like it was great . I just think about the thought tell myself that sucked and made me mad i will get over it but i am not forcing anything just riding with the flow .
I have been much calmer and for the first time in a year I wore jeans yesterday without my pelvis or private areas feeling like they are bruised and sore. I had minimal pain at various times yesterday and was able to sit for almost 8 hours straight. I broke the times of pain and when and how I felt it. But it's awesome I wore jeans and not baggy sweat pants. I also have been jogging with no pain at that time.
What I am about to say might offend some people but I believe that Tms people should not practice Law of Attraction. I blame LOA for alot of my denial and pains. The premise with LOA is to change your thought process for success and happiness you get what you put in. I am not doing this justice but look up LOA.
As people with Tms I think when we practice loa that good things will come but when good things don't come when we consciously want then we just brush it off and go onto the next without hesitation or worry knowing we will get what we want....but that's not so simple, the child primitive is furious we didn't get the race car, the hot girlfriend, the things or thoughts that make us happy. It's relative to everyone and we are all different. Nobody is wrong with what they want.
But we become engulfed with vision boards and message boards of people who did this and got that and we Tms people think " what the f"?
We must understand that whatever new age or new though process we go through might have a negative affect on our unconscious causing us pain.
Look I "cured" myself 8 years ago by looking at my childhood, today I feel as if I am "curing" myself by looking at all times of life but not expecting greatness or wanting something so bad I become sick. I don't strive for excellence just what I am capable of which is awesome anyway, I figured out I can produce alot without all the tension but iam still applying it.
I stopped drinking coffee and stopped all the Loa stuff, looking at porn, or whatever imagery we are given easy access to. As a result I feel much better. The coffee gave me an unconscious anxiety or escape from my thoughts as well as pornography and shows that served no purpose for me to watch.
It's personal but I am enjoying uncovering all these facets and want to see if anybody else has out this together or think it makes sense. I believe we unconsciously hurt ourselves by consciously thinking in terms of everyday life things and new ideas of through.
We must adopt a life credo or motto that we have Tms and if we don't consider this with New thought processes then we have a problem.
Let me know what you all think. Good or bad.
**Sure I can lay down on a bed of nails and not have pain but why am I having back pain when laying down on a soft mattress? |

Also the concepts of forgiving, letting go and having faith are necessary components to allow the law of attraction process to occur.
Ace: This sounds more like a regimen or a mode of behavior and not a "law".
No the part mentioned above in not the law itself but necessary requirements for the law to work in ones favor. Kind of like the gas in a car is not the car itself but a necessary requirement for it to operate |

Posted - 01/09/2014 : 11:10:28 This is a great topic. I believe that one must first be aware of the reality of their state or life situation and they must fully accept this first. The law of attraction principles are to use repeated thoughts or images to help change the current state (strained habits). There is no repression or delusional thinking when done on this way. Louise hay states you must accept yourself the way it is now fully first before a change can occur. Also the concepts of forgiving, letting go and having faith are necessary components to allow the law of attraction process to occur. Outside of doing it in this way is where I think that the law of attraction can be detrimental or nonproductive. |

Posted - 01/09/2014 : 05:41:00 I'm not sure of what you're getting at with the reference to New Thought, but if you're suggesting that the principles of New Thought are somehow incompatible with Dr. Sarno's methods of treating TMS, I think that you're on the wrong track. Have you read any of the works of Dr. Quimby, Ernest Holmes, Joseph Murphy, Frederick Bailes, Emmett Fox, and so many other NT teachers? Even Louise Hay (much revered on this forum) was a NT (Religious Science) practitioner. Perhaps you are confusing NT with New Age and its crystals, pyramids, tarot cards, horoscopes, energy vortexes, etc. |

icelikeaninja: I agree that repressing emotions has unpleasant consequences. However I don't think there are many people if any who are behaving that way because of the "Law of Attraction". Our expectations are a function of our identity and a false or unrealistic identity can lead to unrealistic expectations. Unrealistic expectations result in disappointment, bitterness, helplessness and other forms of psychological stress.
