Hi everyone, looking for some tips.

Tomorrow is family holiday shopping day. It's a all day shop a thon at a mall. I've been having a series of symptoms all week. One joint will act up, then I'll read books and journal and that joint will quit being a pain, then the next one will act up and I'll continue reading and writing

So far it's been: rt knee, rt ankle, lt elbow, rt wrist and now finally lt knee.

I think I'm just afraid about all the walking I'm expected to do?

Here's my question. At home, with my books and journal and tea, I'm kinda handling it. After my tour if this weeks pain, nothing hurts but the left knee now.

What can I do when I'm there at the mall, in the thick of it so to speak?

Oh and I wait to go. I love family shopping day, or have in the past.

Thanks!

You might also consider listening to what this part of your mind is trying to tell you and see if you can reassure it that while you agree in principle with its goals, you have somewhat different ideas about the best way to keep you safe. If you can be interested but non-judgmental you may well be able to reach a place of resolution.

Hahaha, I should make a shirt for "underwater basket weave champ 2013"

Seriously, thanks for the great responses.

I'm going to try the "so what" approach. It'll be hard b/c I gave this l this loaming, " if you over do, your knees will flare up and you'll never be able to run again!" Monkey I can't get off my back.

But I'm going to try to tell my mind who is the boss

Thanks!

This might be bad advice but here goes: a group of people I know went to China for a conference. One person had ME (chronic fatigue, pure TMS or so it seemed to me) so the group brought along a wheel chair for her. Turned out she did as much pushing as sitting and everyone enjoyed the trip. They got special treatment and took turns sitting and get pushed.

Also, when I had plantar fasciitis (again, pure TMS), I used a wheel chair at the mall a few times. There is nothing quite like the look on people's faces when you pop out of the chair and walk. Or your husband takes a turn. Pity turns to shock and awe. Big fun if you are show off like me.

Not relevant but: A completely different group of folks I know went to Hawaii on vacation. They had tee shirts made that read "Canadian Women's Stationary Bicycle Champions 2011" (or whatever year it was). They got comped with limo rides, free drinks, cheers everywhere they went. No one seemed to realize it was a joke and the group said they'll never go anywhere without their tees!

Your shopping trip sounds like serious good times.

Just go and enjoy and if it hurt just say to yourself: so what! then keep on shopping.

joint pain don't kill, only your negative thought and your fearful attitude can. Journaling, books, and tea are just tools, don't be too dependent on them, there come a time you have to stand up to your mind and tell your mind you are the boss. Pain? so what? just keep on living, keep on smiling.

enjoy shopping, happy holiday.

No, I don't know everything. I'm just here to share my experience.
