Posted - 12/16/2013 : 15:04:55 So, I have been DX'ed with inflammation. I figured the pain in my toe was arthritis or a bunion and saw a podiatrist who thought it might be a bone tumor It ended up not being that after an MRI, thankfully. But after switching docs and going to a specialist the DX was simply inflammation of the bone of my big toe. He prescribed some cream. So, it's pretty minor. But since the DX the pain has vanished. When I first realized I had TMS I was in pain every day all over from joint pain that felt like electric shocks going through my body. Slowly after accepting it, that faded. My toe began to throb. I would have a bad day and it would throb worse. My kids would get on my every last nerve and the throbbing would begin again. I knew it was psychological but it was like I was comfortable with it. Like I need to have SOME area on my body that absorbs my thoughts and fears.
I just wanted to share about the "bone inflammation". THe Doc actually told me he didn't know why it was inflamed other than perhaps footwear (I always wear good shoes) and told me I didn't need to come back again to see him. I have not exactly been surprised the pain instantly disappeared.
I am glad I visited the doc to rule out a serious cause, but wanted to share yet another TMS manifestation.

Posted - 12/21/2013 : 09:58:06 Doctors found inflammation on my 5th and 6th costal muscle joint areas via ultrasound. Even my regular doctor said the inflammation means nothing and he's a cancer surgeon.

Posted - 12/21/2013 : 09:55:53 Sarno told me the inflammation I had by my rib joints where I had pain were normal and that it means nothing in terms of what pain I am feeling... Regular doctor did an ultrasound on my rib joints and muscles.
And yes as TT says when I called sarno for my chronic pink eye condition he said it was Tms amongst others.
I am flattered you remembered

"Some would argue that anti-inflammatories don't stop TMS pain because TMS pain has no swelling. But this is not always true. I had swelling from tension, Dr. Sopher tells me he had it, and many others have as well. There can be swelling in TMS, and if symptom-relief is the question, then drugs may be a short term answer--sometimes necessary."

Darko, well people shouldn't ignore it. You are what you eat!! I'm 37 in two weeks and feel great :) Glad you are well too. The "inflammation" of my toe is TMS to me. Because (to me) TMS is any physical distraction that takes the mind captive. I struggle with being anxious over health so anything physical that my mind focuses on becomes worse and worse, including inflammation. But, like you said, I never self diagnose because that's dangerous. I do however give it some time before I see a doc to see if it goes away on its own. I'm sure loads of people will disagree with what I'm saying about TMS but it's my take away and it's helped me.
This is such an awesome recovery story jennypeanut-- Thanks for posting it. I too have had inflammation disappear from not focusing on it and believing it was a manifestation of tms. I had two shoulders that kept me in pain for years thinking it was inflammation and when I decided to treat it as tms it went away. Wow |

BINGO!!!!
I have suggested this before bu people ignore it...
Good on you, it sounds like you have a balanced approach to this. As for your toe, like I said, in MY experience inflammation wasn't TMS...but I would never rule it out. I try not to box things in.....I let the results and observations guide my thoughts.
I just thought it was unwise to self diagnose and ignore everything else because you believed it was TMS.....sounds like you're all over it.
it's amazing how easier the TMS journey is when i have my diet in order. I'm now 37 and feel better than at any point in my past........healthy, clear and energetic mind helps more than one can imagine.
Good luck D |

Posted - 12/18/2013 : 08:30:14 Shawn and Darko - I DID go to a Dr. Two in fact. A podiatrist and an orthopedic Dr. I'm confused why you both said to get it checked out. Did you read my original post? I'll admit it was poorly written but are you sure you read it?
Darko: I agree on diet. In fact I have done an anti-inflammatory diet to restore gut health, supervised by a MD. So, I do go to doctors! I also no longer eat the foods I have slight allergies to: Wheat and dairy. I have seen a drastic difference in the way I feel mentally and energy wise. I also weigh the same as I did at 16 now too! Anyway, I believe TMS treatment combined with diet and exercise (and I take supplements) has helped me. You can't just go about your life stuffing your face with McDonalds and trust you'll be healthy thanks to TMS healing. Also, I get what your dr is saying regarding inflammation but don't you find it odd that my toe stopped hurting the instant I heard it was nothing serious???? That's proof in the pudding for me! |

Posted - 12/17/2013 : 15:27:39 Hi Jenny, this is a response I got from Dr Schechter when I also asked about inflammation as I had Iritis/Uveitis for years.
--------------- "TMs is more of chronic pain, no inflammation, positive tender points, come and goes, mind and emotions the ultimate trigger!"
Truly, David Schechter, MD www.schechtermd.com has telephone, address, and other information on vacation aug 13th thru 25th. back 26th. ----------------------- I spent many years trying to treat inflammation as TMS. I have since found out that inflammation is caused by diet. I changed my diet and have had positive results.....I am aware that diet talk is considered heresy around these parts, but ignoring everything else and only believing in TMS because we had some good results is fundamentalist thinking.
I would get it check properly....then you can approach treating it with EDUCATED and INFORMED knowledge......not just an opinion.
I'm not saying categorically that it's not TMS, it might be, but in my experience I doubt it....you'd want to be 100% sure it is as there will be long term ramifications otherwise.
Cheers D

Posted - 12/17/2013 : 10:17:15 Inflammation is an overreaction by the immune system, which is a known target of TMS.
It is amazing how TMS symptoms can fade or vanish as soon as a doctor confirms there is nothing seriously wrong. It has happened many times in my life.
Of course, don't be surprised when TMS finds a new way to bug you. It doesn't give up. |
