Today in MA, we're having a gross day of sleet, slush and snow.

My boss is fantastic and she lets the whole dept work from home in bad weather so we can be safe.

I've mentioned my knee issues on this forum before but not really my back ones. I had back troubles (low back pain) for about 2 year before any new pain appeared.

One day last year (when my knees were really hurting badly but my back pain had completely subsided), I was working from home again due to bad weather. The low back pain came roaring back for no reason. It was agonizing and I totally panicked with the appearance of the back pain since I had "fixed" it by light jogging and stretching (impossible with busted knees.) This was all before I'd heard about TMS.

So today, I'm working from home in the nicest desk chair money can buy and, as soon as I sat down, the low back pain was back (back pain has been gone for months). It's awful right now. I've worked in this chair before w/o any pain (on personal art projects). I just shoveled out my car and felt fine. I then climbed the stairs back to my 2nd floor condo, with no knee or back pain.

This has to be TMS. I'm puzzling this out, but I just can't figure what is triggering me? Maybe it was the fear of a repeat of last winter?

BTW: knees and elbows are doing tons better since I was last on the site :) We're getting there.

I'm happy to hear that you are feeling better and were able to let go of those feelings you had. I might suggest that you meditate a bit more to understand why those drunks bothered you. Imagine that a silent third person attended that wedding who overheard what passed between you and those others. What would that person think? Would that person see the need for you to get upset? Would that person be able to explain why you were bothered?

So it's crazy but that simple question, "what's bothering you?" made all the difference.

At first, I was pissed. I thought, " nothing is bothering me, I'm at home! I'm not stressed!"

But then another part of my brain said, "then why is there pain?" I decided to actually slow down and try to figure it out. I finished work and decided to meditate a bit.

The past weekend, I had attended a wedding. A few people at the wedding like to get drunk and say some awful things to me. It's been going on for years but I can't change who people invite to their weddings.

I actually really thought about it and then told myself that it was okay to admit that they hurt me and not be embarrassed. The pain started to back off.

I took the rest of the night making some crafts with friends and focusing on enjoying the activity and not focusing on the pain. The pain continued to subside.

The next day I did my normal leg workout which includes leg press and squats and both my knees and back did great.

Right now I have zero back pain and only mild knee pain.

So I wanted to thank you, peregrinus, for asking how I felt :)

I too am enjoying Massachusetts weather today and happy to be able to stay at home and watch the ice form on the tree limbs.
By now you must realize that your knee, your chair, the stairs in your house and your jogging have nothing to do with your back pain. So what's bothering you?
