Has anyone taken this program? Did it work for you? Anything different from Schubiner's program?

Stayfit65, I don't remember anything about knee tracking issues in the program. He does give his personal history briefly but mostly he focuses on the source of the pain (psychological not physical). He doesn't spend much time talking about where the pain manifests. Since all of us experience the pain differently and in different areas of the body, I think his approach is entirely appropriate. But, although I didn't use it, I do know he also does consultations. As a fellow runner, I am sure he would be able to talk to you about the specific knee issues you have questions about.

Hey,

To those of you who have bought the program, does Monte address what structurists call knee tracking issues? Since Monte is a runner, and I am, too, I am hoping to get some insight on how tension mya be causing some of intemittent ckicking and pain I have in my right knee...thx.

Stocktrader, I ordered the Master Practice and have been through it a couple of times now. It has helped me and I would recommend it. Of course, this is no replacement for going through Monte's work, but here's my summary of how it works.

Dr. Sarno talks about four sources of rage. One is anger and emotional pain traced back to childhood. Another is anger from self-imposed pressures to be good. Another is anger generated from the pressures of life. Finally, the fourth is misc things like guilt, shame, fear, etc that feed the reservoir of rage.

Monte gets you to focus on the 2nd source of rage. But, rather than question what is being repressed in your unconscious mind, he encourages you to realize that it is your chronic patterns of being self-conscious, striving, perfectionistic, and good that are doing it.

Instead of questioning why this is enraging to you, he encourages you to "think clean" and replace your chronic closed and constrictive thoughts to more open and allowing thoughts and thus stop being, on a moment to moment basis, so self-conscious. For instance, instead of thinking "I must make the best of this situation", you instead have a thought like "I will bring my personal best to this situation". The difference is in the ownership of the situation. In the first, you think everything is dependent upon you and therefore imposed additional pressure on yourself that isn't healthy for you. In the second thought, there is no extra pressure other than to do the best you can.

He goes into lots of detail and examples and I have benefitted from it. I hope this summary helps you decide if you'd like to try out his program.

stocktrader, I've visiting runningpain.com and watched Monte's videos and read his monthly updates. I haven't ordered the master practice yet but am thinking about it. If I do, I'll let you know.
