A few weeks ago I posted about shin splint pain that developed as I started a running program for the first time. Tennis Tom and a few others urged me to keep going. I just wanted to update a little.

Yes, I think I was stressed out about the race itself and lots of old feelings were coming up about that....who ever that was...genius! I had not realized that, but it was so true.

2nd...TT...you are like Dr Sarno's voice in my head. I vividly remember him yelling...yes gruffly yelling at me, that there was nothing wrong with me, and that I could run a marathon if I wanted to! Exact words. So all of your posts remind me of him, and that keeps me going, so I honestly thank you.

I have kept going. I started running outside a few weeks ago and ran 3 1/2 miles yesterday and felt great. It is a huge accomplishment for me. I hurt afterwards and still today, but sore....not TMS. And my shin splints are almost gone. I am so happy that I did not give up. Maybe one day I will run that marathon...just for me and Dr S!

CONGRATULATIONS! And thanks for the feedback M2T. Those who "Just Do It! and follow the Good Doctor's words, get your transformative results. Dr. Sarno is a genius and I have no doubt he will get a Noble Prize someday. I'd never heard of a "stress fracture" until relatively recently and the term is half right--"stress" is the problem--the current medical/industrial thinking is what is "fractured". "Stress fractures" and other newly coined dis-eases, are a handy cop-out for the docs to put a structural label onto what is probably TMS. Such stuff usually can't be seen on imaging or if it is, is a normal structural anomaly.

I'm sure if you want to do a marathon you can, first do a 5K, then a 10K and then a half and then the whole 26.2--"start slowly--then taper off", (Walt Stack)--let's be sensible after-all.

Cheers,
tt/lsmft
