Did you know that our dysfunctional parts disguise themselves to get back in the door again. This is especially true of those that came to believe they were helping us through use of an addiction. It matters little if they came into being using substance or process addictions.
Process addictions are addictions to negative thoughts, over work, shopping, internet time, sex, relationships, TV etc.. Addictions are anything we use to change how we feel in the moment and that we have difficult time recognizing or stopping.
Knowing these parts can take control of the True Self and block the connection to spirit I have left notice with the doorman to bar their entrance (taking control).
My little nasty's have more masks and disguises than a Halloween party. Sometimes they knock on the front door with the “Mask of the Day” disguise. Other times they try to use the back door....or even flow under a door or through the keyhole. Mine have been known to back through the door so it looks like they are leaving.
My main addiction: “Doing Too Much” got the societal Good House Keeping Seal of Approval. It wore that mask proudly and people told me I was a good boy to have such a mask
It usually takes a while to recognize the real entity in the mask at the party...when I eventually do, the judge – guilt and shame are aroused because I missed the delusion and they want to have a word with me...or perhaps a lashing!!
So while these little buggers were created by a child that lacked a fully functioning cortex ( and at an age he could only guess at what was right) and they sold my child on their Dog and Pony Show they came at a cost – all addictions HAVE HIDDEN COSTS!! And while the personality parts always have a mask even the addictions can have masks and aliases and they fit through psychic entrances that would squeeze a mouse.
Think Trojan virus: all dressed up to look really good while holding an invading army.
So we have a wounded child who is shamed and guilt ridden because children think all bad things are caused by them so they feel like crap. To stop hurting we learn to engage in short term relief strategies (wounded personality parts) (addictions and adverse thoughts and behaviors) and then the “One Who Watches” catches us doing the deeds again and says look at you, you piece of crap. Watcher rings the bell for guilt – shame – judge and sergeant at arms to come flog you. Come quick, he/she just did it again ...bring the whips and boiling oil!!
But I was just trying to take of my little boy/girl...Judge: nonsense you are a piece of crap. You are so much crap we have to sweep most of it into the unconscious where it make you sick and you wont know it is in control.
When parts of our personality are not in harmony with: “That Which is True” it sends a signal to the limbic system that war is brewing in the psychic camp –next step...tension and suffering on many levels including illness.
Now we have the basis of all addictions: do the deed...feel bad...need a fix...do the deed again and feel worse....do more and bigger deeds!!
