I am finally taking the next step and posting here. I have been reading and lurking on this site for over a year now, on a daily basis and I want to join in on the "fun"!

I feel as if I know alot of you from reading your posts, so here is a little information about me. I am 38, and a stay at home mom to 2 girls, 3 1/2 and 10 months. My therapist suggested Dr Sarno's books to me in 2006 after I had been suffering severe back pain for about 6 months straight which went straight down both legs and was starting to creep into my mid and upper back making me almost suicidal. Reading his books made me realize that I had been suffering from TMS since I was a child, in one form or another, so living just 40 minutes from NYC, I called and was accepted into Dr Sarno's program. Mu husband came with me and learned all about TMS. Being an engineer...I doubt he would have accepted this on my explanation alone. Within 3 months I saw huge improvements and within a year I was almost pain free. At that point....that was good enough for me.

2012, while pregnant with my 2nd baby, my best friend, also pregnant with her 2nd, found out her baby was very ill. After loosing her baby, she went through a lot of emotional turmoil. I felt guilty for my baby being healthy even though we struggled enormously, medically, financially, and emotionally to have both of our children. I then had a massive TMS attack. It came back full force putting me in bed for weeks, unable to take any pain medication, with a huge belly to lug around. I knew it was TMS, and I knew why, but I was in no shape mentally to do the work required. I suffered for about 2 weeks, when I finally became so angry that I got out of bed and was ranting and raving to myself and God about how unfair all of this was (thankfully I was home alone that day) Then I sat and wrote and wrote untill I could not write anymore. I felt my pain subside over the next few days. My pregnance was not pain free after that, but I was able to get around, and I was seeing a chiropractor. After I had my daughter, my back kept "going out" and I was seeing the chiropractor....when it hit me....duh...she is not doing anything for me!! TMS dummy! So I stopped her cold turkey and began writing....alot. I got better....a little....but was very angry at my husband and wasn't sure why. It turns out after alot of prodding and poking (and fighting) that he is an alcoholic. (Long story here too) but is now working on recovery and therapy too...and things just made so much sense to me now.

So my outlet has been the gym lately and as a non-althetic person with TMS...it can be a scary place. Honestly for the first time in my life,I enjoy being active. I enjoy being pushed physically. So I wanted to take the next step and push myself emotionally too and introduce myself and say thank you to all of you. I found this site while laying in bed writhing from pain while pregnant. You all helped me get back on the right path...because almost no one in real life except Dr Sarno and my therapist, and my husband understand this beast and what it can do...If you let it.

Whew....that felt good :)

Hello sweetheart.
Thanks for de-lurking and sharing your story. You're quite right, electing to post and adding your voice to the chorus of healing is an act of emotional courage. I'm a very private person so it felt like I was making a statement to myself when I first started posting here. It has and does make a difference. People here have that fundamental understanding and for all our differences, we're pilgrims of sorts. It's a bond that fosters healing.

So here's to you and your healing.
