I would like to begin a thread specifically for those lurkers out there who have been working on Ace's Keys whom we have not heard from. I would like to know 1. How long you have been working on the keys. 2. On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 the lowest and 10 the highest, how much you feel they have helped your symptoms. 3. Any comments, stories or suggestions you may have regarding the Keys. By participating, you are helping yourself and everyone else.

Obviously not a lurker but thought I'd chime in here because Ace1's Keys have been pivotal in my contributions here, and in healing thus far. I decided to re-post the keys as a way of keeping on track, of maintaining focus. It's all too easy to waiver, to be demoralised by pain and set-backs.

The Ace of the Day was a fabulous opportunity to truly understand the subtle dynamics of the day-to-day. This mental minutiae is not as trifling as it seems. For me there was a lot of merit in the daily approach. Such reminders keep one on track.

I would cheerfully encourage folk to de-lurk. I've said before how much being here helps me. Pain isolates us and we collapse into our fears; opening up here draws you out. And as Tom once said, it's just a screen and nothing to be scared of.

When I took a brief hiatus recently, I was incredibly touched by the kindness and support of people here. Souls that really do care and want to help. In the end life only repays our efforts, and here, this is following the keys, telling our stories (ripe for unravelling) and finding our voice. All boons.

It would be lovely to hear from people who are embracing the keys.
Unfurl! We'll treat you kindly.

Ok, I will begin. I joined this forum late last year. At that time, I had back pain of the sciatic variety that was so severe that I often could not sit at the computer. I remember being at a party on New Years Day. The back pain was so bad and so distracting that I was really about to lose it. I had been seen periodically by doctors and my husband is a doctor. I had some normal degenerative issues that people my age then to develop, but most of the time, do not have pain. I strongly suspected TMS because I had a history of on and off back pain and other symptoms that are often thought to be psychogenic. My husband also felt that there was really nothing wrong with my back.

Anyway, that evening, on the first of January, I got on the forum and started reading Ace's Keys. They sounded so simple and yet so profound and were there for the taking. I read them over at least 2 or 3 times per day, focusing mostly on the first 5 in the beginning. I was amazed at the progress I was making in the first month. I also focused very intently on constantly being the observer of my own emotional feelings and reactions to everything during the day. I tried hard to keep my central nervous system calm and quiet even when I found myself in situations that had always caused me to have symptoms in the past. I did not fight with my symptoms. I used affirmations and self talk most of the time, especially in the morning and evening and when I was about to enter difficult situations. About 2 weeks into working on the Keys, I found myself pain free most of the time. I had problems with "replacement symptoms", often, but they were not serious. I knew I had TMS on the run. I have to say, though, that the last 10% is a killer for me. The TMS strategy struck back for all it was worth and robbed me of my sleep. That is getting much better. I also have stopped antidepressants and sleeping pills because with this gift came the realization that they were not helping me. I have very little fear anymore of NOT taking meds. At times I have become very discouraged, but have made steady progress. I have also read some of the books recommended on this site.
