Not sure if anyone remembers me..I posted a lot in the fall...BUT here it goes...

Suffered for decades with panic attacks, knee pain, arm/wrist RSI pain, shin splints, face pain, skin issues, terrible ankle pain while driving, headaches, indigestion,...name it.

About a year ago was introduce to Sarno...met a TMS doctor in DC, bought all the books, read and journaled daily, got better big time!

Face pain 100% gone, arm/wrist RSI 98% gone, Ankle pain while driving 99% gone, headaches 100% gone, skin issues 98% gone, indigestion 100% gone, shin splits (the one thing I struggled with during training for marathons), knee pain 100%, gone.

Never could run because of shin splits and/or knee pain all throughout my life. Trained and ran 2 marathons in the past 5 months (Palm Beach in November and Disney in January). After Disney started to develop feet pain when running. HHmmm what's this all about?

Now...arms hurts again from computer/mouse all the time, face hurts when I talk most of the time, anxiety raging back, can't run anymore from the newly developed "feet pain". Knees still ok, headaches daily and real bad, shin splits fine because I can't run, starting to itch (skin issues) all over again...

Let's see, what has happened this New Year? Left the company I worked for for 8 years (was in Navy for 9 years and this company for 8...lived in/moved to 4 cities for the company and was the rising star...Navy and this company were the only 2 jobs in my life). Departure was bad...forced out because I turned down a promotion and another relocation...I was/am hurt emotionally...pissed off at the jerk at the top who cares only about treating people/managers like chess pieces, went back to being a saleman and moved to Florida where I am from in August to stay with the company, have a new born son who is now 5 months (our 4th kid...no pressure on good old daddy there, all my friends and I are turning 40 this year, new company I joined is great but has some things I am not used to/comfortable with yet, I went back to management in new company (from sales when I turned down the promotion), started new job 2 weeks ago and I am considered their "savior for the Florida market" (no pressure there!).

Funny thing is the job at my old firm started to blow up right after the Disney marathon...many sleepless nights (up at 3am worried sick about starting over), extremely loyal guy to an extreme (a form of goodism?), felt betrayed by the compamy I gave may ALL to. Now I am trying to convince myself the new companies products are better than old firm (not sure if I believe that though)

Can someone please slap me and tell me that my feet are fine and it makes no sense that they have never hurt in my life and never hurt during either marathon and there is no reason why they should hurt like hell for days when I run a mere 3 miles. I am in constant pain right now...headaches, RSI in arms, anxiety/depression and this dreaded feet pain.

Is there any doubt this is TMS? I was convinced I could ignore this stuff and just tell my self it was TMS and it would go away...well that hasn't worked! IS the answer back in the good doctor's book that I read 25 times or more...do I just re-do all of the work I did last fall? Thoughts?

Hi Florida Boy,

Baseball 65 hit it on the head. Read and reread and do more mental conditioning. I have to do this! My TMS issues go away and then resurface in another part of my body. Then I have to pick up the book again and do self talk. Hopefully by now, you are fully recovered.

You can do it!

Hi Floridaboy,

Congratulaions on doing the marathons. Sounds like you may need a TMS booster-shot. If you're getting burned out re-reading Sarno's books, try listening to Dr. Schechter's audios for a change of pace while driving in the car.

Good luck,
tt

all right...here goes. I started my program again...thinking psychological, reading MBP, etc. Ran this morning and surprise surprise my feet do not hurt today (maybe a little...but that is nothing compared to last week). I think Baseball's reply gave me what I was looking for (a good slap into reality). I will keep you posted. Every car, professional athlete, musical instrument, etc needs a tune up...I guess TMS'rs are no different. Just wished I could have been "over it".

Yes,Yes,Yes,Yes,Yes,Yes,Yes,Yes,Yes,Yes,Yes,Yes,Yes,Yes,Yes,Yes!!!!!

Brother...I have started over so many times ,it's a wonder that thing hasn't fallen apart(not to mention the scribbles in the margins, and I ran out of colors in Hi-liter pens)

It is a tribute to the publisher that they bound a paperback so well.

EXCEPT...each time I go through, the answers are a little different...your TMS is like wine..It matures with age.Subtleties and new flavors.

It's so F-ing simple that I feel like an idiot every time I get to the 'punchline'...somewhere around halfway through.

Except in this case,I'm the one who has played the joke on me.....I started believing I was different,or that I had become 'enlightened' therefore exempt from review.

Go back to page one and you'll be better in no time.

I think Sharpie just came out with new Hi-liter colors.

peace

Hey Floridaboy! I remember you, and wondered if we'd ever hear about your marathon!

The rage is just oozing from your post. Also alot of tension and stress. Your body is putting up a good fight to keep your thoughts away from what you REALLY are feeling -- and you know it.

Yes, start again. Read the book another 25 times if needed. Being pain free is worth it.

Good luck.
